How do you display your Combiner Teams?

I realized as I was working with my CW LioKaiser that I have every one of my combiner teams displayed in their combined mode. It got me thinking about how I hardly appreciate the individual bot modes for these guys as they haven't been separated since shortly after purchasing them. Am I the only one who displays my teams combined nearly 100% of the time? How do you all handle your combiner teams for general display?

It...kind of depends on which teams. I have had the CW Liokaiser set displayed individually, as I like those characters from Victory. Similarly, I bought CW First Aid and Rook as characters, didn't get a complete Defensor. I display CW Superion with Alpha Bravo as a limb and Air Raid separately. Victorion stays combined, but Elita-1 and the Orthia crew are individually displayed. The G2 CW Stunticons are individuals. All the original, reissue, and knockoff Scramble City combiners are stored separate, but usually displayed combined, if that makes sense?

I mean, the point of most of the combiners is the combined mode. What I have been doing is Combiner mode, except for Volcanicus as the Dinobots I want in the individual modes. If I get a better version of the team, then I display that one in combined mode and put the others in bot mode. My only exception to that currently is G1 Predaking, as I have several sets of him. One in Combiner mode, bot modes, and alt modes. Also, I have the reissue in combiner mode with some add on parts, as well as bunch of other Predaking figures.

I'm one of those who actually transforms my Transformers. So I may have combined mode for a while, then individuals, then (like at the moment) Abominus combined fighting the Protectobots individually, etc. That's why I like sturdy joints as opposed to clear decoration plastics, simply for durability. I plan to have a separate shelf for Omega Prime and Liokaiser to be on so I have room for those in whatever forms, same as I have Deathsaurus and Victory Saber on their own (plus Dinoking) so I can spread them out if I want. Dinoking was separate till just last night, when I combined him.

I like both combined and individual modes, and enjoy transforming them back and forth. But when it's time to put them on the shelf for a while, as others have mentioned, the combined form takes up less shelf space. Also, individual bots would be a waste of the space I have in my display case.

Combined. I had all the UW combiners on display up until last year. I've since condensed it to the 1985 to 1987 ones with Legacy Menasor replacing UW Menasor.

Wow. I seem to be the odd man out, as I plan on having my various combiner teams displayed as individuals rather than combined together.

Right now, my big issue is whether to retire the Combiner Wars versions of the Stunticons in favor of the Legacy versions or not, same with the Combiner Wars Constructicons in favor of the Studio Series versions. Assuming the HasLab goes through, I know that the HasLab Liokaiser will get displayed while the Combiner Wars version is retired, so I don't have to worry about that.

Just curious... when you guys say "retired" does that just mean the other version is put away in storage somewhere, or are you actually parting ways with them?

I have been thinking about selling my CW Menasor with the add-on kit. I do really like Menasor, but he's not my favorite combiner and I don't think I need multiple versions of him. Bruticus on the other hand is absolute favorite combiner I don't mind having multiple iterations of him in my collection.

Honestly, the only traditionally-sized CW teams that I liked the look of were the Aerialbots and Technobots. Both of those used the same basic torso setup, so there's that. Menasor and Bruticus look okayish, but both are not "living their best lives," so to speak. Menasor, for me, was just...fun to mess with but not to look at. I will grant that the add-on kit did a lot to elevate the combined mode, but it still wasn't enough for me to want to bite. So it's a "sell" vote for me.

TL;DR: sell CW Menasor.

Mostly in combined form, but my new place has lower ceilings compared to my old place. Which means my CW Devastator and PotP Predaking have to be displayed as individual bots.

Speaking of Technobots, that is the set I want redone in legends style the most! Hard to get the CW set and the Takara Tomy version of it even better. A new Computron would be instant get for me!

I think I will be selling him. I still have the G2 CW version so it isn't like I wouldn't have a version of the mold anymore. I might just end up displaying my G2 guys as individuals standing around the Legacy since I like the individual bot modes on those guys better than the combined form.

I have both United Warrior Superion and Computron. I love both of those and am satisfied with those as great versions of those characters. I also am really fond of PotP Abominus. He's not perfect, but he's a darn good version of him.

So full disclosure: I actually sprung for both the Hasbro and Takara offerings for Computron. There were lots of subtle (and not so subtle!) differences between the two, and getting Scrounge was a nice touch. Despite having both, I would spring for a third version in a heartbeat, because they remain one of my favorite combiner teams.

I would have done the same thing, but by the time I decided I wanted the Hasbro set, it was impossible to get at retail price.

Keep in mind that these are still work in progress shots as my display isn't 100% finished yet, but I thought I'd share some "Work in Progress" pics of my combiner displays. I like having them on the top shelves as they are some of the larger figures and easier to see up that high.
