[IC] Mey Hem: Submitted For Your Disapproval (cont.)

"It would appear as though our journey either continues down to our left, or we go right and rise. At least for a time, Goddesses bless us but these halls are long and dark even beyond the limits of my gifted sight." Dee murmurs a rebuke to the architect who surely did this to vex her... XD

As far as Patch could tell, she had not come this way previously. Sue'zhan replied to Dee, "Then we're likely going to the right since the closest manual override is near or on the surface. Unless anyone has other insights."

Omega considering suggesting splitting up potentially. Then dismissed the thought as too much was at stake right for them to risk getting half the party attacked or caught.

”We stick together and head right then. Everybody stay alert for the sound of droids or guards.

Let’s move!”

With his nerves on edge, Omega gripped Retribution tightly, though he managed not to draw the blade.

After traversing through multiple corridors, the group came to a dead end with a ladder leading up to a hatch. The rain from the storm could be heard drumming on the outside. Sue'zhan typed a code into her tablet and an audible click could be heard from above. Then nothing. A confused Sue'zhan scrambled up the ladder, then scrambled back down. "It feels stuck. Either someone stronger will need to force it open or we'll need to detour to one of the others."

With a (concealed) knowing smirk, Omega gave a theatrical bow to Destron.

”Lady Destron, if you would be so kind.”

Kage might have advised her to tone down her thirst for the fairer sex, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t goung to let her have any fun.

Might: 10
Viknadian Strength (Brawny) (2)
You gain a +5 bonus to Might checks made to push, pull, lift, carry, or break things.

Sunderblade (2) - Heroic
Time: 30 seconds
You focus all of your essence into your blade for the next minute. It can cut through any solid object from soil to steel (effectively gaining +40 to Might checks involving such actions). You can also slash through magical enchantments, letting you make Might checks in place of Arcana checks to attempt to dispel magical effects (this application does not benefit from the above-mentioned +40 bonus).

Might = 10+5+40+[d20] = 59

Destron motioned for the party to take a step back as she focused on her task. half a minute passes before she strikes the hatch.

With great Viknadian strength, Dee broke the hatch clean off its hinges. While edges were mildly frosting from her cold touch, some could feel a different kind of chill as the rainwater from the storm rushed in. Sue'zhan shouted, "Everyone get ready! We're going to have to move fast with how strong the storm is out there."

Night Cap Raises one hoof nervously. The storm is strong and he is... lightweight.

"Someone carry me."

Destron turns from the storm and lifts Night Cap up to level with her ample chest. Shielding him from the brunt of the torrential tempest beyond.

"Would you once again care to face this challenge with my strength at your back, brave sir Night Cap?"

The cold and water seem to not affect the Princess, much like the darkness of the hallways earlier, her body has been war-tested against the elements... both via design and hardship.
Frostborn – (1)
You cannot be harmed by any natural cold
One With the Waves (1)
You do not suffer movement penalties for carrying another creature while swimming. In addition, you may roll twice on skill checks made to swim and take either result.

XD I'm sure the second one doesn't technically apply at this stage, lol but we'll have to see how much rain we're actually talking about once we get going :ROFLMAO:

Everyone rushed up the ladder and into the storm. They could now see that the top of the vessel was uneven, though the area they were in seemed like a valley. Presumably, they were at the center of the ship. Ahead was a large glass dome. Sue'zhan shouted, "That must be manual override! We need to find some way in." "Now now, that's close enough," a voice above them said. Looking up, they could see a young, silver haired man in a white suit with circuitry flowing through it. Rain didn't touch him as it bounced off some sort of invisible sphere around him. Most recognized him as the High Intellectual, Lucidas.

"I see a number of...guests...who're overstaying their welcome."

Their conversation is interrupted, Dee turns to the voice of Lucidas as she tucks Night Cap into the pocket created between her chest plate and leather top. (he can get out easily if he doesn't want to remain there. she just wants both hands free)

"Good sir, if you have come to revoke our welcome...trust that we feel sufficiently scolded and you can return to other tasks what better befit your station." Destron leaves unsaid the obvious alternative, that he is here to do more than just admonish them... but protocol exists for the unwelcoming of guests. She did not move to free her sword... as taking a weapon to hand would quickly escalate the situation. fortunately, her rune made that step unnecessary.

"I would love to continue with this pleasant conversation, however, my companions and I are slightly pressed for time and we would very much like to be on our way." Dee adds, with a slightly lighter tilt to her voice, as if this was all just a lark and clearly, only a small misunderstanding between friends had occurred, nothing serious, no of course not.

Heading out into the wind and rain, Kage still marvelled at the sheer size of YPNRs floating fortress city. Pristine, geometric in design, mathematical in construction and, save for the people they had met along the way, as cold as the metal it was built of. A magnificent floating island, isolated from everyone.

As their way was blocked, and by the ‘High Intellectual’ Lucidas no less, the Omega Knight felt a mixture of rage and disappointment. Not that the way was blocked, more that he had hoped (futilely as it turned out) that they would not have to fight until after they had prevented the impending calamity of YPNR crashing.

Thus, he simply sighed and stepped up beside Destron. Cape swirling in the wind, rain running down his armour, the Knight crossed his arms. Speaking softly, for now, the Omega said.

”So, are you a pompous egomaniac with delusions of godhood too?”

He had run out of patience as the veiled cruelty of what YPNR did and hid from its ‘citizens’ wore away at his nerves.

'So much for civility, at least we may hope the storm will prevent the tossing of fireballs' Dee mumbles to herself and Night Cap, as a line of worry creases her brow

Patch wrapped her arms around the book and held it closely, trying to protect it from the elements. She decided to hang back behind the rest of the group for the moment and observe. She did not want to have to fight here, in the rain, holding a library book. It was a thoroughly unpleasant idea all around. And yet... she sighed, knowing it was likely inevitable.

Beathra frowned and eyed the High Intellectual sternly, stepping up along side Kage.

"Aye. We have overstayed our welcome. That much is true." He said grimly. "We should not have tarried so, but perhaps we made a few worthwhile allies along the way. A fact for which you should be grateful, as we are on our way to rescue this fetid utopian dystopia from destruction. For one whose title claims wisdom and intelligence, you seem to be unaware of your own impeding destruction."

After a pause, he added, "If you insist on stopping us, then get on with it. Elsewise, leave us be!"

High Intellectual Lucidas chuckled, "Some of you are more pleasant than others. I simply have to ask, why are you so pressed for time that you would come out in a storm like this?"

"Are you not aware of your own station's path?" Beathra said with a raised brow. His manner lightened, but only somewhat. "You may forgive our manners, if, under the circumstances, we fully expect a conflict. We are 'guests' but I suspect you know better. And we fully know that."

"Into the Jaws of ... " she paused, this was no time for allegory- "This flying fortress is falling fast, we seek to attempt to alter its course away from those below, or if the Goddesses are willing to prevent the crash entirely... we believe such chance exists in the room beyond."

"There's no time! If we don't get in there, everyone on board will die!" EB grit his teeth and rushed as fast as he could in the weather towards the dome.
