To be a pony or not to be a pony...is a very stupid question. Clearly, being a pony is better than NOT being a pony! Who'd even ask such a question?!

"Nobody" published another issue of...

So, how is it?

This is actually really good! I mean, part of that is probably the fact that I'm a bit of a mythology nerd. So, I'm kind of predisposed to liking this. But, I actually think it's pretty well done.

Writing-wise, I think it's perfectly solid. I like the tongue-in-cheek, slightly meta writing style these Classics Reimagined books usually have. They have a few clever lines, here and there. The thing is, this is actually retelling a BUNCH of different myths. There's the main framing story, which does take inspiration from the Odyssey. But, there's also 4 stories within the issue, which each retells a different myth. This means that it's basically a slightly comedic take on a bunch of Greek Myths. If that sounds like you're kind of thing, I think you'll have fun with it. But, I will admit, I think it works better if you're already familiar with the Greek Myths that they're telling.

But, the artwork is where this issue really shines. This is maybe the most artistically pleasing My Little Pony comic ever. Because each of those 4 Greek Myths have different artists. All using a slightly different style, based on Greek artwork. Plates, tapestries, carvings, pottery. It's just a lot of fun to look at, and it's expertly done, in my opinion. The main framing story is also done by the regular artist for these Classics Reimagined comics, which I personally have really grown to like. I just think a lot of love got put into the art, on this one.

So, I 100% recommend picking this up if your a fan of Greek Mythology. I think you'll find something really fun here. And even if you don't have a love for Greek Myths, I think this might be worth picking up, just for the artwork alone. Even at the higher price. I think this issue's actually a bit of a gem. Check it out!

If this is the last one of these that IDW does, then they really went out with a bang, in my opinion. It's well done! The team behind this one should be proud of themselves!

Spike seems annoyed that he's in another one of these. I can't really blame him, he always gets bit parts.

Eligible bakers from around the city all want some of Pinkie's sweet, sweet cupcake! And that's actually not a euphemism! She's been lost at sea for years, and they all want her recipe.

The artist or the guy doing the word balloons seems to have mixed up Trixie and Cozy Glow. This is inexcusable and punishable by being turned into a pig. Where's Circe when you need her?

Dolphins! Pinkie's in real trouble now.

Pinkie MIGHT have gone mad being lost at sea for so long. But, to be fair, it's kind of hard to tell with her, sometimes.

"I LOVE sand! I love how coarse and rough and irritating it is" I sense a disturbance in the Force...

Spiders...nature's little cupcake thieves.

Mind-erasing Macarons! Holy Moly!

Rainbow Dash IS Atlanta! The fastest racer alive!

"Why would I want to be friends with anyone SLOWER than me?" Well, they can hold your place in line for you, for one.

So, they're literally trying to get a trophy "friend" by winning this race. This won't end well.

Applejack is Aphrodite, because of the Gold Apples of Distraction from the Atlanta myth. Applejack makes for a weird goddess of love, choice. But...eh...apples speak louder than words. Even though, they never actually explain who she is, so if you're unfamiliar with the myth, you're outta luck.

"If you gotta problem, throw a apple at it!" -Applejack.

Rainbow/Spitfire. OTP. I guess.

These ponies DO NOT take kindly to wasting desserts.

"My boat's extended warranty!" Hang up on the bird, Pinkie! It's a scam!

Zecora is Circe! And her pigs are...pigs. Not a lot of pig-representation in MLP, I guess.

Rarity is Arachne the Weaver. And Twilight is the Goddess Athena. No sign of Seiya, Saint or otherwise, though.

"A little brag may do no harm, but too much can turn to smarm" That feel like a bit of a stretch, Zecora.

To be fair the pigs tried to warn her. They're pretty good folks, those pigs.

*BOOM!* I don't know what I expected, but that wasn't it.

Hey, it's Marini from the Season 10 comics! That's a character that I never thought we'd see again.

"I really gotta stop leaving places in front of giant explosions..." I disagree! I kind of wish I could leave MORE places with giant explosions happening behind me, honestly.

"*SNFF* It's seems like just ONE PAGE AGO when we met for the first time" Time flies....one minute they're stowing away on your boat, next you're seeing them off for their first day of Tartarus school. *SIGH* (We never got to dance...Oh wait, yes she did, actually)

"What's next?! A play about doomed lovers without the doom? A story about a bunch of...of..LITTLE FILLIES?! *WINK*" Heh. Good times.

Discord is Hades, Lord of the Underworld, hey howaryadoin'?

"Abandon all hope" You see, you're supposed to leave the horses behind BEFORE you enter a place like that.

D'aww, and Fluttershy is Persephone. That's a nice touch, if you know the myths. Even though, if she's with Discord, it really should be winter outside. She's just glad to have her bugbear back.

Celestia and Luna are Helios and Phaethon!

"It's just the sun! How much could it weight? Two pounds?!" *Googles* Try more like 2.192 x 10^27 tons. So, yeah, she might be your sister but she IS heavy.

"Oh no, does my mane really look like that?" Everyone's always embarrassed by old engravings of themselves. It was the style at the time!

"Wow...it really is made of cheese" The ooey gooeyiest cheese of the heart that they got!

Scylla and Charybdis are...just a monster and a whirlpool. Which works for MLP, but still, they could've been SOMEONE.

"I have made a huge mistake" I feel like this could be a useful reaction image, nowadays.

"If only we hadn't left all our jet engines at home!" Look, it was either take those or leave room for souvenirs. I think you made the right call.

Party Cannons solve MANY problems.

"I missed you ice cream taco shop!" Too soon.

"Get your sad small violins here!" Wow, this city really does have everything.

An onion vendor with a clothespin on her snoot...cute.

"I can't IMAGINE writing some sort of LONG FORM POEM" Heh.

Psyche and Eros/Cupid are Sugar Belle and Big Mac!

I mean, to be fair, the whole "never look at me thing" could kind of strain the relationship long term anyway.

Angel Bunny is the most terrifying monster in this entire comic.

*Tee-Hee* Anime girl energy!

Geoffry the Giraffe found a new gig!

Pinkie IS Guy Fieri! I mean "Fiery"!

"Great and Powerful Trivia" C'mon! Someone's doing this on purpose!

"I think we just broke time" Eh, that's just a normal Wednesday for Pinkie.

And her cupcake prize gets stolen by a bird...classsic! (heh)

This one sounds completely up my alley. I should recognize the myths, but we'll find out.

It's been a long time since I've bought anything MLP. But this actually looks pretty interesting.

In college I had to read the Illiad and the Odyssey. I struggled trying to get through the Illiad but actually had quite a bit of fun with the Odyssey (which seemed to be the exact opposite of how everyone else felt).

I also really enjoyed Oh Brother Where Art Thou, so this seems right up my alley.

Given my journey probably started with Fantasia's Pastoral Symphony sequence, this kinda brings things full circle for me. Neat.
