I need more of that Secret Level Megaman. 8 frikken minutes is criminally short.
Half of that, if you cut the intro and end credits.

I kinda waited too long to put my other thoughts on Mega Man Secret Level so just putting them down. Yes, it was a great 5 min but they really changed the lore, some cool, some not.

Not going to bring up the size difference of Bomb Man but I'll assume even the big bots can more quickly, not lumbering like he was. Also with Rock popping his hand out to switch weapons, haha.

What I really loved was the head space change with Rock. In the original, we know that the Robot Masters were taken because they were combat capable or had potential for damage. But Rock (and Roll and Auto?) were left behind because he was... weak? No weapons?

The Secret Level Mega Man version getting infected and overcoming the virus was something new. It shows that there really was something inherently powerful in Rock's form. He didn't even have the inhibitor whatever that Bomb Man had. I'd like to think that SE Dr Light did not expect Rock could resist and was surprised as well. I love watching that minute when Rock was mentally fought against the malware and destroyed the spider thing. It might be a common trope in other AI stories but using it for Mega Man was new.

Also his quick thinking creativity (using ice to freeze the bomb in place) was new. If his future fights would lean into using the rock paper scissors tactic, it would have further shown that Rock really had a high level adaptive program. Having a weaker form or power can still overcome the odds with creative application of whatever ability he gets.

What I didn't like was how Dr. Light reacted after. "It doesn't matter what I made you for. This is what you are meant for." I hate that because Rock isnt suppose to want to fight. He wants to help. It's like Dr. Light was saying Rock is meant for war now, for violence. He's proud to send his creation to battle now when he should be sorry it had to come to this and he's giving a non combatant weapons.

I know the ending had to be uplifting (and yes, I love the use of the game wily theme) but I would have liked it better if Dr. Light had some regret that he brought Rock into a life of everlasting conflict now.

Guess that's all we're getting for Mega Man, right? Was there any word on how Capcom took the short? Enough buzz to get Mega Man 12?
