Should have gone with the original, Starkiller. Way more subtle...Yeah of the many decisions lucas made, having anakin have the last name skywalker/not having them change lukes name when he went into hiding... not his best.

In "Choices of One" by Timothy Zahn, one of the characters notes how common the last name "Skywalker" is. (I realize this book is not canon, nor would the creators of this show pay it any mind.) I always took that to mean "Skywalker" must be the "Smith" of the Star Wars universe.Yeah of the many decisions lucas made, having anakin have the last name skywalker/not having them change lukes name when he went into hiding... not his best.

It also does make it stranger still that Obi-wan slips back into obscurity. I suppose if you wanted to make some head-canon to explain it, he still thinks he's mostly alone in the galaxy. I don't think he knows Yoda's alive until after he's dead and a Force ghost (although I guess Qui-gon might have told him). You could also suppose that even if they did know about each other, they recognized that the galaxy needed to be in a position to overthrow the Empire as a whole through the Rebellion. But it's all a bit torturous.
