The Rapture did come and go. So few people were taken that nobody really noticed.
The world did end: we were too pre-occupied and too self centered to notice. Now we're all in hell, and since we did such a good job rendering it on earth, we haven't noticed that yet either.
Regardless of the context, "paid for 15 years of classical violin lessons so I could become the #1 rapper in America" sounds like sarcasm.
Also I must be severely out of the loop for this to be how I'm learning that Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake are charting again.
