I love how Cliffjumper never actually answers Hound about where the cannon came from.

Nightshriek rounds out the twothree-pack. It’s a simple, effective colorscheme but the mold just isn’t much. The head can move up and down while the legs can fold in and out. The painted detail helps differentiate him from Ratbat but it’s nothing outstanding. He’s meant to perch on Thundertron but as mentioned, it’s kind of awkward. The rectangle mode is kinda rough with some gappage clearly visible and the skull looking more than a bit goofy. The eyes are too elongated, I feel, and makes it more cutesy corporate logo than pirate flag. The extraneous white bits don’t help. You can flip out the peg in rectangle mode to act as a shield but eh doing that means you hide the side with the skull detail. The three-pack is a decent deal overall but not anything you can’t miss out on. Thundertron’s definitely the highlight of the set and the new head is great, but if you already have him, it’s not worth double dipping.

I’ll be honest: I can’t be bothered to get a rectangle’s name right. If they want to be taken seriously, they’ll need at least two more sides and double the total internal angle.

Using the Combiner head instead of the standard robot mode head does help as well.

Just occured to me we could get a nifty Cyberverse Thunderhowl retooled from Thundertron.

That might be the version I hold on to (or if they make the Legends Leo Prime; just great colors).

I don't know why I can't seem to get into Thundertron as a toy. The character concept is cool enough, and this new mold seems to be an improvement in key ways from the original. I think there's just something about the color scheme that leaves me meh on it (which is why I was glad to skip the regular release and waiting to see what this would look like). That, and I'm still kind of weary of seeing it after PRID merch seemed to hang around on shelves here forever at the time (and it was mostly Thundertron).

Like give me this mold in mostly muted maroon or dark navy blue, to better sell the "pirate captain coat" look in robot mode. Maybe with charcoal as a secondary color and gold for accents.
