I mean, it's not that short a commercial. Nor are the clips in it particularly long. All three of those seasons get several multiple clips played in the ad.

Anyway, as of this typing, the infamous "I Love Lothor" episode of Ninja Storm is just beginning.
Just saying, they can't give everything equal focus, so I can understand maybe zeroing in on a select few.

Yeah but only three? Out of 29? They could have easily cut in half the number of clips they used from those three to allow clips from at least three more seasons.

Okay, while watching the SPD part of the marathon, I just now counted the number of clips shown in the commercial. As it so happens, there are exactly 29 clips played. Since we currently have 29 seasons before Cosmic Fury airs next month, this commercial could have easily included one clip from every single season to represent the entire history of the show. And if one clip is too little, two clips would still allow room for at least 15 seasons to have been represented. Three clips would have allowed about ten seasons to be shown. As is, a mere three seasons means they used up roughly ten clips for each.

I own MMPR - Ninja Steel on DVD and I streamed Day Of The Dumpster (Pilot) on You Tube.

I wonder if Cosmic Fury will end up on You Tube later. I had watched Once And Always when it went up.

Just a little heads up about the 30th Anniversary comic that came out this week. I'll try to keep the spoilers light, but I think some people might be interested in some of the contents of this anthology book. Even though it's $10. Kind of spendy, but it is longer than a normal comic.

It has a Ranger Academy story in it. I know some people are looking forward to Ranger Academy and we get a *little* bit more about it here. Nothing you probably can't skip, but it's a nice little story.

Also, Amy Jo Johnson (Kim's actress) has a story in it. And...this is slight spoilers but...it seems to be leading into something else. Whether it's another mini-series or a one-shot or a graphic novel, I'm not sure. But, it seems like AJJ's planning on writing more Ranger comics in the future, somehow.

Plus, one of the stories in this is just...really, really sweet. I think some people will really like one of these stories in particular. I won't spoil it though, it's probably best if you go in blind.

All the other stories are also pretty nice. There's a lot of heart in some of these stories. But...I do think they're all "skippable" in the grand scheme of things. You won't be missing out too much if you choose to skip this expensive comic. But, I think if you pick it up you won't regret it either. As long as you know you're getting more "heartfelt" stories rather than "important" ones.

Also...one of the "stories" is just a collection of different one-page splash pages where the characters all morph together from past issues. It's nice...but it's pure filler to try and justify the price of the comic. That's really the worst of it though. All the other stories are at least fun or sweet.

Man, it feels so wild that a) Super7 got to Bulk and Skull before Hasbro and b) the MMPR Ultimates are preorderable on the Pulse site.

I got my Omega Rangers order in, so unless they do Squatt and Baboo and/or the comic exclusive MMPR Purple and Orange rangers (Bulk and Sull) I think Im done with this line.

Went and binged Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. It breaks the formulaic episode format somewhat. It was a good mix of original stuff, Sentai Zord footage, and call backs. Having Billy and a few others comeback was cool.
Having Mick and Heckyl comeback as allied Rangers helped fill out the team since we really don’t get the full Cosmic Fury Team until the final episodes. Heck we don’t even get the Cosmic Ranger powers introduced until the third episode. We actually get the Zords first.

As what could be the end of an era it went out pretty good. Not the best, but despite the show runner being a bit of an ass lately he put out a pretty good finale to the Dino/Cosmic Fury series.

I stayed up all night binge-watching it. Will have more thoughts later, but for now...

I think we might now know how Rita got her palace fully rebuilt on the Moon without anyone noticing in Once & Always, and I was not expecting Cosmic Fury to touch upon something so trivial as construction technology.

I also need to do some refining to that headcanon regarding Rangers who are killed in action that I shared on here back when we were discussing Trini's death in Once & Always, as I realize I had forgotten the circumstances of a few other Ranger death cases, and Cosmic Fury also provides a little more new info on the matter.

Overall this surprised me. I wasn't really sure that they could pull it off in just 10 episodes; espically with it feeling they were dragging their feet with things. But yeah, I think this was well done for such a short season, and I feel like if this is a preview of what an american PR could be, seeing as so little was Sentai footage or elements; then I feel kinda good for whatever they play to do with the reboot.

Also, if they do a Lightning Collection Master Zedd, I am SO getting it; that's a pretty bad ass design and upgrade for him.

Meh.. To be fair.. from the multiple Sentai/Ranger fandom places I go... He kinda has a right to be an ass.

Ranger Academy #1 is out today!

A little heads up again. This is MOSTLY a reprint of the Free Comic Book Day issue. But, there are 6 pages of new comic. And another 6 (...or 5 if you don't count a "cover" page) of supplemental material about the school itself.

I guess I recommend picking it up, since we do find out a little more about the actual Academy itself. But, it is annoying to have to pay for a a issue thats two-thirds stuff you already had for free. You could technically skip it, but just letting people know that there IS new stuff in there, just not a lot of it.

Watched Cosmic Fury. That was a fun ride. I do wish some minor things like it was longer, we got more of the other teams, but I also understand budget and stuff so it's not a big deal.

Really curious as to what is next. I hear reboot, but I'm assuming they have what they set up here just in case they want to do more.

For one thing:
I don't believe for one second that's the last of Zed we see. It's perhaps my only real issue with this all. We've seen you can lock onto and teleport things from a distance, so what if the evil monsters that come to investigate sense Zed from Orbit and just beam him up? Far as I know those illusions only work if you are ON the planet. I'm also not sure how much I trust that Zed isn't going to figure things out eventually.

Well apparently the team had planned for 20, but things got reduced to 10. I feel they did damn good for just 10.

The reboot is the next big thing, yes. But it does feel like they've intentionally left the door open to return to this version if/when they want. Like if the reboot doesn't do well, they can always come back to adapting things; I'll even accept more stuff like Cosmic Fury here where they use more American footage and are just borrowing suits from Toei, with little to no actual sentai footage being used.

I feel that's largely the point. Its a way to have Zedd defeated, while preserving his track record of no ranger team having ever really beaten him. It takes him off the table in a reasonably logical way, for potentially long term. But its not impossible for him to escape. Its part of the whole 'open door' element. Just like the Zordon and Billy stuff. there's still plot potential there that can be used. Things end well, but not everything is 100% wrapped up.
