President Biden pardons Hunter Biden

Two things

1) Biden shouldn’t have done this.

2) Hunter Biden *was* unfairly sentenced (but not unfairly prosecuted) because of his connection to President Biden

Maybe it’s the dystopia (…or the last election) talking but the schadenfreude from Conservatives freaking out that Biden lied (he did) and this means certain people are above the law (it does) when they just elected someone 1000x worse on both points to another term in office is just delicious.

Just one last middle finger to Trump from Dark Brandon.

I'm going to miss this come January when we're all in hell.

Disagree with the pardon(actually, disagree with numerous things Biden has done), but can't say I'm not smiling a little at the Republican's getting a big middle finger from Biden on his way out.

Yeah, just reading this title made me think: This is Biden flipping the Republicans off before he leaves office.

If I'm being honest, I really don't care.
So what? Hunter is not going to be in any sort of politics. Biden is one step from the grave.

This was a gesture. one that won't have any real bearing on anything come January.

Eh, the talking heads will point to it for the next four years as “Biden was just as bad as Trump!” When Trump starts his unethical (possibly illegal) shenanigans come next spring.

MrBlud sums up most of my views on the subject. And I can’t even be assed enough to make a fraction of a fuss given how much conservatives tried to build up Hunter’s business dealings into the next “Hilary’s emails” for years. Not to mention all the guff Joe got through just being elected.
Joe got him some meager retribution for decades of jive conservatives have given him. I’m not about to hold myself to a higher standard and say I wouldn’t have done something similar, just out of spite.

Yes, politicians shouldn't be above the law, and their unelected family members who serve no function in the system certainly shouldn't be above the law, but there is some use in wiping the slate clean and letting this family just go away now. They're done. Hunter can go get a job. The country is moving on from this chapter whether we all like it or not.

Trump has made it clear that he's going to task his DoJ with persecuting his enemies, real or perceived. I can't blame Biden for wanting to shield his son from that. I don't like it, but I understand it.

This isn't shielding him from anything. His sentence was already pronounced, and double jeopardy applies just as much to the guilty as the innocent. Unless you're saying this gives him the opportunity to flee the country along with everyone else Trump has it out for, which he couldn't do from prison.

Yes. That's what I'm suggesting. I mean, just look at the worm he wants to put in charge of the FBI.

Lot of anger from the right wing and Faux news. Almost as if they're deliberately ignoring the fact that they willingly voted for a convicted felon who was very generous with his pardons provided it served his purpose.

Look, they're trying very hard to make this a thing, but it just doesn't matter. Biden is done. Kamala is done. Everyone associated with this administration is done. They're all going to go back home, tail betwixt legs and lick their wounds. 4 years time, provided we do get to have elections, they may try to bring this up, but it's a simple matter of saying "hi, I'm not Joe" and it loses its effectiveness.
