I'm off this week so my father and I went to the Air Force Museum near Dayton Ohio.
Here I am next to my most favorite planes ever. F-117 and B2 come in as close second and third, but the SR-71 will always be tops.
My back was giving me issue, so my father lent me his cane.

Peak design. The SR-71 never did become obsolete. It was retired for no good reason.
To be fair, I guess, it was a reconnaissance plane made unnecessary with all the satellites and drones we have today. Stealthy planes that came after it (B2, F117, F22) were bombers and fighters. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think recon is done as much with planes as it used to be.
