So I am watching this episode about Stadium Events, and they talk to the guy at Nintendo who was in charge of destroying the games after they were recalled when Nintendo bought it from Bandai and rebranded it as track field. He saved a few copies for himself, and sold them years later.
Anyways, this reminds me of something from my childhood. My grandparents had a salvage and recycling yard in Florida, and I was wondering around there in spring of 1991. I was wondering around the scrap area, and found a few cases of Atari 2600 video games. These were all Keystone Kapers, and were sent there to be destroyed, as the games had been out for 8 years at this point, and the NES was the only game console people cared about (Although, the Genesis was out and the SNES was coming out that fall) . I was excited, as we still hadn't got the NES yet(despite it being almost done), so the 2600, Commadore 64, and Gameboy were our gaming systems still. My grandfather gave me a copy as I was really excited about it. I took it home and played it that night and the whole family really enjoyed the game.
I wonder what other games they destroyed there, so I should probably ask my uncle about that while he is still around to answer.
