Siege Alpha Strike and Phantom Strike sets getting re-released?

Gizmoboy needed some years ago, so I bought a bunch from Amazon Canada. I had worried that they were getting re-released, good for those that missed out, not good for the one I still had. I had a feeling I needed to offload.

And I am thankful every day that you were able to get me Skywarp, my friend.

Snagged G2 Sideswipe since I missed him the first time. Happy about that one.

I'm kind of tempted. I somehow managed to get a Phantomstrike set TWICE, selling Skywarp each time (I forget what was going on, but the first time at least was to keep the Battle Masters). Maybe this is where I get one to keep.

The Alphas I'm good on, although I could use a box to scan.

Either way, glad to see them eventually get around to these. I like how open they are to reissuing stuff of late; hopefully Skywarp, Thundercracker, Runabout, etc also get another go.

I missed both sets the first time around, but honestly, I kinda don't see the point to getting them this time around.

Most of the Siege Cybertronian mode figures have been replaced with the Earthrise/Kingdom/Legacy Earth mode figures, Slamdance is just a red and blue Flywheels that doesn't actually look like the real Slamdance, and of the Battle Masters, Schrute was meant to go with Spinister, but Spinister's already getting a new release with both of his Targetmasters included.

And while Fracas can finally go with SS86 Scourge and both Trenchfoot and Terror-Daxtyl are neat as new original characters, I can't see myself justifying $100 plus tax for just three little Battle Masters.

G2 Sideswipe is tempting but the Masterpiece has kinda filled the void for me, not sure I like it enough to get the Slamdance too.

I don't remember Slamdance getting a release before...

...those aren't cassettes, are they?

Shame they couldn’t (wouldn’t?) use the ER Sideswipe mold for this G2 Sideswipe.

That and a I dunno more toy based Skywarp for $50 seems like it would’ve sold more.

Neat. I think it's starting to come back to me now.

Gotta say, even though they aren't cassettes, this is awfully tempting...

I got him back when he original came out, and honestly I am fine this being an update for them. Sure they aren't cassettes, and sure they combine the "wrong way" but for the first toy of them since the 80s, it works. And you can always say this is them before being recruited by Blaster or something. Its not like they get much fiction anyways.

Them doing G2 Sideswipe, Tigertrack, and two versions of Deep Cover off of the Siege Sideswipe mould convinced me that there wasn't an Earth mode version planned because why do those one-off selects versions on the Cybertronian version if there was a more accurate Earth mode version in the pipeline?

How wide eyed and naive I was.

I like cassettes that aren't cassettes anymore. There's an implied story there. My Classics display includes the Reveal the Shield/United Rumble and Frenzy tanks (and the Eject/Rewind versions) and GDO Laserbeak drone. I don't own (but would love to) Universe Overkill (Classics Grimlock repaint) and Titans Return Ramhorn.

I didn't get this Slamdance, because I didn't want the Sideswipe. But now that I have a second chance, I might go for it.

I personally like the Siege Swideswipe mold, but after having several versions of it, the ER mold would have been nice to have.

It'd be nice to have the Kingdom mold as Sideswipe and Red Alert, and the Siege mold for the eHobby guys. I do wish the Kingdom mold uses had just had opaque or dark windshields (or with silver or whatever painted onto the outside rather than the inside) so as to avoid having the more Cybertronian spaceless interior visible.

I like this as well. Maybe because I'm used to it from the decade or so when that was the dominant approach -- having to find different ways to make Soundwave and Blaster also resulted in different fun takes. (I even dig the data discs, which I'd like better without the spring-loaded everything.) We give up their ability to store in their former-tape-deck buddies and gain more agency and flexibility from these generally now-self-contained designs.

But I don't think I'd rather have them instead of the cassettes, so I especially appreciate now having these alongside the cassette-style remakes.
