I do like the idea of Spock being dumped by his fiancé multiple times. Like constantly breaking up and then dating over the centuries, including multiple marriages and children.

I was just puzzled / sad to see Hemmer. Why DID they kill him off anyway? Make up application got too expensive?

There's a lot of reasons people leave shows, so I could look it up or I could speculate, but I'm okay doing neither. He was cool though, I miss him. I hope they didn't kill him off just for the sake of manufacturing stakes for the Gorn conflict but that's because I hate that plot thread and wish it wasn't in a fight with Kirk over who's going to take over and ruin this show.

First I thought it was weird that it would affect Pike's hairstyle and then I thought no, I would be weird if it couldn't given all the other changes. But then I remembered no, his hairstyle before was not genetic. It was mousse and his new one would have to be also.

"...and last July."

The hairstyle changes could partially be attributed to Vulcan hair reacting differently to things like mousse, but some of it was just having the makeup department go nuts.

How can a serum just bestow emotional controls that Vulcans spend their entire childhood developing? There's nothing genetic about them.

Have you not been paying attention to Vulcans for the last 20 years? Heck even Spock in TOS was a bit of an elitist, and he was half human.

This is as absurd as the time Voyager's crew were assimilated like it was nothing and then they were fine afterwards.

Yeah, this concept doesn't make a lick of sense.

This is the clip they wanted to show off to build hype? Not anything related to the Gorn cliffhanger?

Yeah, really.

As much as I've enjoyed Seasons 1 and 2, sharing this clip makes me question the sense of the showrunners.

That was the most cliffhangery cliffhanger since Best of Both Worlds, and this is the first promotional material for the next season we see?

How did we get so dark?

I'm starting to wonder if this will be the first Star Trek series to actually get worse from season to season.

(Or, was I the only one that thought season two was a significant downgrade from the first?)
