I have one more movie before the Kelvin Trilogy.

I actually saw First Contact - Nemesis in the theater. Also Undiscovered Country.

Next is Star Trek X Nemesis the final Picard movie.
One of the first movies I remember seeing in theaters is Star Trek The Voyage Home. Specifically, I remember skipping along the parking lot with my Dad and older brother to go see it. I know we watched the others on VHS first, but the TNG films first contact and Star Trek nemesis I saw in theaters. I did see the first two Kelvin films in theaters too. Beyond was a UHD Blu-ray for me, as I haven't been going to the theaters much since having kids.

Star Wars Episodes VII - IX

I've always felt that Star Wars was a generational thing. 3 trilogies.

Episodes I - III

Anakin and Padme

Episodes IV - VI

Luke , Leia , Han and Lando

Episodes VII - IX

Rey , Finn and Poe

Maybe it's best to let each Trilogy be it's own thing.

So regardless of the attempt , Disney told the story of the next Generation after the destruction of the 2nd Death Star.

The 3rd Trilogy would be a new chapter in the Star Wars saga.

If we do get Episodes X - XII they need to stand on their own.
I do not want to get started on the Sequel Trilogy.

I haven't gone to the theater since Nemesis.

I watched Star Trek TMP - The Final Frontier on DVD having missed them and Generations.

I rented two Kelvin movies and saw the 3rd on Hulu.

The Next Generations of Star Trek need to respect the Orignal Series. They are the beneficiaries.
Shatner benefited sufficiently from his own popularity to try to force Roddenberry to choose between him and Nimoy and consistently angled to steal Nimoy's better lines. Like a reverse Burnham, angling to force Kirk into everything as opposed to having the showrunners force it on the rest of us. Any beef Wheaton has with him is their own business. No saints here, just people fully entitled to have their own opinions about and dislike each other.

I…you know man, I enjoy seeing some of these clips but you gotta give it a rest. TOS is not infallible and people can critique Shatner for being a jerk.

Likewise, the TNG “being mean” to TOS cameos is pretty far off the mark. Scotty tried to hop in and mess with engineering details that were 80 years more advanced than his wildest aspirations. Did Geordi handle it wrong? Yes. Was Scotty out of line? Also yes.

And in the end they made up. So it’s really a nothing burger…

Spock ran off and did some cowboy diplomacy, and Picard had every right to call him out on it.

Agreed.

This is why Artificial Intelligence and Automation will not take over the world or completely put people or industries out of work:

because of the prophetic social commentary of Star Trek: The Original Series which I think sets it apart from future generations.

The Original crew was still a social experiment. That’s why it wasn’t as strict. They were still coming up with and figuring out what the rules were, what worked and what didn’t work.

By the time of the Next Generation a lot of that had been figured out, recorded and written down into Starfleet regulations that then had to be followed to the letter.

I’m just commenting that TOS isn’t the end all be all.
I concede that the Next Generation surpassed the Orignal Series.

I just grew up when the Original Series was the only thing we had, much like Star Wars’ original trilogy.

Star Trek: The Original Series was literally the end all be all for over 25 years. There was nothing else except the Gold Key comics, Animated Series, novels, documentaries, Star Trek Specials (eg. countdown of the best episodes) and movies all based on the Original Crew.

There was also a few text-based computer games, and Star Fleet Battles from ADB(formerly from Task Force Games).

Of all the Star Trek Original Series episodes they could have picked:

why does “Trouble with Tribbles” always take the #1 spot on all the countdown shows of the best episodes of Star Trek voted on by the fans. Every Star Trek Special I watched in the 80’s where they counted down the best episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series, which was all there was at the time so it was the end all be all, this silly episode always took the top spot.

I’ve never nor have I ever had the desire to sit down and watch “Trouble with Tribbles” from start to finish. Whenever it got to that episode or whenever it came on tv I always turned the channel.

Because it's delightfully funny.

Trouble was not written for any one group, so it was approachable by anyone.

This is a more interesting episode to me, especially what Spock says at the end about time travel:

That’s the Star Trek I know and love ❤️ .

The Kelvin movies are next.

I had seen most of TNG and Picard actually.

Picard ended the way it needed to -

tying up lose ends left over from TNG.

So maybe Legacy should just start over without anybody from TNG and be it's own series.

Star Trek VII - X

The Picard movies over all as all 4 together were good.

I felt that they were able to tell the TNG story start to finish on the big screen.

All 4 movies felt like they were connected in a single flowing way from one movie to the next and in a way each movie continued off the previous one.
