I think I'll wait for a gift set. If they end up making one that's yellow or orange instead to be separate from the originals, so be it.

I'm interested enough, but I literally cannot afford to play this game right now.

I'd love to have that Devastator, but mostly in the less-realistic "I love all Transformers/I want everyone who was in the movie" sort of way.

(Studio Series '86 should have been my line, but I just haven't been able to keep up.)

Semi interested, but I suppose if I change my mind later, I can always flip em. So I might just go ahead and pre-order the first two and just not open them until reviews for the whole set are out.

Looks good overall. My two biggest concerns were the size (CW was way too big for me) and the shade of green, and they got both right more or less. It looks like the torso and chest behind the chestplate is kindof...m shaped, though, which feels less than stable? Those are some large gaps! The invididual modes also look good, though I wish Bonecrusher had some paint deco on his treads. He looks like he's wearing overalls, but maybe that was always intentional.

Yeah that's kinda where I'm at. On the fence and would prefer to wait, but waiting might not be an option (except waiting for a later gift set release or something).

The overall aesthetic is closer to CW Devastator than I'd hoped. Long Haul will be the interesting one to see. Scrapper looks good but Bonecrusher looks a bit blocky for my taste (though he was always going to have a tough time with a screen-accurate deco).

Alright, so I'm still not sure what I'm looking at here. I have UW Devvy and absolutely love him, warts and all, size and all. This...appears to be that but kinda scaled down? But also a little different? I mean, Scrapper looks almost exactly the same. Other than it being smaller and Mixmaster being more of a "traditional" mixer, I just don't get it. Is this all-new tooling? Very confused...

I think I've talked myself out of it. I have the CW Titan and the undersized KO, so this one is a bit surplus to requirements, especially at the total dollar figure to complete him. He definitely looks like the individual robot modes will be a bit better than the CW ones, but I don't think I can justify it.

I've pre-ordered them just in case, becuase I can for see these guys just being hard to get if I decide I do want them later.

I preordered the two available, but I maintain my current level of confusion. If someone knows whether these are truly new molds, or just "sized down and tweaked a bit", I would be grateful.

New molds is my guess as they showed off a prototype of the whole combined thing and not the CW combiner, so these guys should be a step up on that in a lot of ways, but likely not as tall as the old Titan class figure, but then I never got the CW Devestator, as at the time I was happy with my third party verison, so I cannot be certain of the exact heights of the two

Someone else made this, and I can't vouch for the accuracy of it, but here's a rough comparison based on Menasor's height:

I think it's 100% new molds, but with a lot of the engineering being cribbed from the Titan version. Reusing what worked and improving it where possible while also shrinking everything down to a size more consistent with the new Combiner scale.

I did put off buying the CW Devestator originally, both because I couldn't afford it at the time and I did feel like he was too big. This one, though, seems almost too small?

Like, he's twice the size of Ultra Magnus, so he's a big dude for sure, but TFTM presented him more as a Godzilla-esque unstoppable force. This one just doesn't really quite sell that.

It's the classic combiner size conundrum. Combiners are explicitly shown in fiction to be much more than the sum of their components - literally, when it comes to size. Combiner bots clearly mass shift to a great degree when they combine. How else could you possibly have a bot that's smaller than Optimus or Megatron become an arm for a bot large enough to grab Optimus or Megatron in one hand?

Toys still have to obey the laws of physics, so there's no way to ever do a single version that matches proper scale as both individual bots and as the combiner. The best they can do IMO is to scale the individual bots, and engineer the combiners so they each generally scale with each other. I.e., basically what all the non-Titan PWT combiners, Legacy Menasor, and now SS86 Devastator have done. I think Titan sets like CW Devastator and PotP Predaking are the only way we'd get full-size combiners. (I'd actually love to get a full set of those too.)

These new ones definitely do seem to borrow a lot from the CW Constructicons in terms of design and aesthetic. Well, for the limbs at least. I think Hook and especially Long Haul are where we'll see just how substantial the differences are. As much as this new Bonecrusher looks bloated compared to CW, I expect Long Haul will look really slimmed down in comparison. It seems like they're trying to keep all the Constucticons about the same size, with the price class differences only covering differences in engineering and accessories. It seems the waist and thighs will be a separate component this time around, like the forearms. I'm still waiting to see how much of the torso is Hook & Long Haul, and how much might similarly be made from additional parts. I.e., how are the arms connecting, and what are they connecting to?

I'm also hoping the black on his forearms/head is slightly more of a charcoal than the straight black which tends to just eat details. I'm assuming the fists will be purple this time.

THANK YOU!

Honestly, people whined and complained about CW Devastator being too big back when he first came out, and now that we're finally getting a new Devastator that's in the correct size for Combiners, people are saying he's too small? Well then so too are Legacy Menasor and the entire non-Titan range of CW Combiners by that logic!

Personally, my complaint was always that the CW Titan was too big specifically compared to the other combiners. This one being closer is a huge plus. My uncertainty on the purchase now is mostly due to lack of space.

Yeah, people complain that the large figures aren't in "true" scale, but I think don't always appreciate how much space they'd take up if they were ALL at that scale. Not everyone has an entire unused basement to display everything.
