On the other hand, the combined price for both would still be way cheaper than trying to get a single vintage one complete off eBay, and having both together could allow one to be Cartoon Optimus and the other to be Marvel Optimus (I'd just share the trailer between the both of them).

Seeing this toy bend like this is really messing with my mind.

Guess I gotta get both in order to get the complete package with every accessory.

The toy-colored one can be Marvel Optimus while the Anime Edition will naturally be Cartoon Optimus.

I'm surprised neither came with the narrow-barreled rifle since both come with the fat-barreled one.

I went ahead and ordered the animation version. I have Encore Prime w/trailer plus my complete original trailer, so I've got a spare if I decide he really needs it. If this trailer did something new or unusual, I might have gone for it, but otherwise I'm good.

Now to see if these show up on Pulse and if their price is actually any better than just shipping it from Japan. Hopefully it's announced before September 3rd which is the last day to cancel the preorder.

The price is rough. This is "If I only buy one thing this year" territory.

But I probably will, so it works for me.

I really do like this, but that price is a bit higher than what I had hoped. I was figuring on roughly $50ish modern Leader price. $75 for just the cab is a bit too much, I think. I think I'll wait and see if there is a more reasonably priced domestic release.

Considering the price of the Walmart reissue, which was also just a cab, I have no hope. This is just going to be expensive.

I wonder if there is Die-Cast like the original? The weight of that alone adds to the price, and then there's the increased parts price of adding all the articulation. And if it's getting a relative limited run... I'm not saying I don't wish it were cheaper but I'm not surprised with the price either.

-ZacWilliam, It something I really want so I'm just glad it isn't worse...

I just remembered the biggest thing I hated about the original Optimus mold from the last time I held one in hand years ago: The giant gaping hole in the middle of his back (or rather, the figure's lack of a proper back at all). Looking at these pics and seeing that it also still has those ugly static flap sticking out from the back of the upper arms tells me that this figure still has the same big gaping hole behind it.

They could have further retooled the arms and the backside to both remove those unsightly arm flaps and create a proper back piece that could open and close to allow the head to still flip out from its original storage area inside the torso (think like the panel on the back of G1 Thunderclash or Machine Wars Optimus that does exactly that) while the arms would sit flush against it in truck mode.
