That phone notification sound actually hurts me now. I need a vacation so bad.

Zipp's placeholder voice is... interesting.

Pipp's nervous giggle is amazing. How DARE Hasbro leave that sound on the cutting room floor.

She's melting down. How could Hasbro cancel a Pipp freakout episode?

WHY WOULD YOU CUT THE MUSIC OFF RIGHT THERE? I'm so unsatisfied.

Dragons haven't embraced technology yet. Good for them.

They were definitely planning on sinking some extra animation budget into this scene.

Pip wet hair. There are people in Hollywood getting paid a lot of money to make sure soaked characters aren't already totally dry in the next shot, and then they don't do their job at all. TYT put it right in the storyboards.

1st floor ceiling. They wanted to make sure they kept the layout of the Brighthouse consistent.

Oof. This is in a rough state. No music or sound effects yet.

Yeah. I've had some mornings that busy.

Oh dear. Misty's hit the stage where inanimate objects start talking to her.

Well, there is this mirror pool near the ruins of Ponyville...

Storyboard artists need more recognition. It's amazing how much movement they can convey with these limited frames. The comic book industry desperately needs this kind of talent.

I mean, what could go wrong? If these Misty copies screw up their assigned activities, is anypony going to notice?

... Well this episode answered my question surprisingly quickly.

Does nothing happen in Zephyr Heights anymore? Literally nothing? These news ponies seem to cover Maretime Bay nonstop.

Actually, this disaster isn't that bad. I was expecting each Misty copy to do one task in perpetuity, but no. When they agree to a new task, both the copy and the new copycopy both switch to the new task.

This frame with Dahlia is a masterpiece.

Longtime Allsparklers may wonder. I feel very differently about this than I did about the Mirror Pinkie Massacre 2000. These copies show no signs of sentience or personality.

I would agree to the buffet. I'm very hungry.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

I mean... they did basically a 1:1 of every episode where fluttershy had to learn confidence, but it was misty learning to not be a ******* door mat. Which is still a good lesson. Even good, well meaning people will abuse and monopolize your time and energy if you can't set boundaries for your self.

It's an important lesson, with a very important nuance people do tend to struggle with. Maybe you don't really have an excuse. It's still okay to say no. You just don't want to. That's enough.

Remember folks: You don't owe an explanation. You don't owe a justification. "No" is a complete sentence.

Here's a interesting animatic. It's for a episode we've already seen a LONG time ago, but in a slightly different form.

Here's the original episode, just for comparison's sake:

And commentary:
They cut Posey! Posey's rage is justified count...1! Posey will be speaking to her agent!

Also, the "scout master" seems to be a original character, instead of Windy. Scout! Huh. I'm assuming this saves on making a new model. Can't blame them, but it's a interesting change.

Also, they cut the rain in the woods. Which might be more of a "budget" or "time" thing, I guess. Still, Scout, Posey and the raincloud will be unionizing!

They also cut the moment where Sunny lost her sash and Izzy gives it back to her. Not much was lost here. I have no sympathy for the scout sash losing it's spot in the limelight.

Otherwise, this is mostly the same episode as what we got. But, it's kind of interesting to see what was originally envisioned and what had to be cut for time or budget reasons.

"New episode" time! Jump in! The water's fine!

SEAPONEIES!

Oh, is this someone's birthday? How embarrassing, you got cancelled before you could celebrate it.

It is ALWAYS a good time for cheese puffs. They don't hold up very well underwater, though. I should know...

How does Izzy even KNOW her seapony-friend's birthday? Have they been pen pals off-screen this entire time?

Pipp knows how to treat herself for other people's parties.

Screaming in panic IS a pretty decent vocal warm-up exercise.

Well, Izzy planned this party. I guess everyone better be prepared to be covered in glitter and/or food by the time the day ends.

Riding in style! Mollusk Motors ALWAYS provides!

I feel like that isn't enough air for all day. But, what do I know?

Is that Mario music in the background?

"It's SO beautiful!" We really missed out on this episode. *pouts*

Destiny! They're so happy to see each other! So cute!

Good thing Pipp invests in the heaviest-duty waterproof phone cases around!

Cue the Makeover song!

Did she just take a bite out of that shell!? Okay, do NOT mess with the seaponies.

Who needs planning, when you can just MacGyver a gift anywhere you go?

Sea creatures are ALWAYS willing to help you find shells! You get a pretty object, and they get lunch! It's win-win!

Okay, I assume the line of jellyfish would have blinked towards the shell for Zipp. That could have been cool.

Wait, Zipp sounds like her regular voice actress in this one. I guess the voice actress made it into work for this one?

What are the chances of Misty's pearl ending up being cursed? Being this is MLP, I give it a 50-50 shot.

"It's still cute though, right? OH YEAH, it is!" Okay, this is just a cute Pipp moment.

The Happy Birthday Song transcends all cultures and realities! It is a multiversal constant that CANNOT be denied!

How'd the cake last that long? And where did it even come from?

Wait, it's not just a necklace? It's a...Shell Phone?! (Bum-ba-dum-tish). Okay, Izzy's growing in skill and power!

Okay, the sea-weed crown is less cute out of the water. But, still kinda cute!

The Whale: "Wait, you forgot your goody bag! Come back!"

Okay, I'm glad we got this one. It gives us a LITTLE closure on the whole Izzy/Destiny relationship thing the special set up, but never got a chance to follow up on.

They were getting good at writing Izzy...

It's amazing how animated Pipp is in animatic form.

This submarine makes so much more sense than the roller coaster. We never did get an explanation for that.

These bubble helmets on the other hand... nah they still make more sense than the roller coaster.

Pipp's phone is saved. Disaster averted.

Arrows suggest the ponies were supposed the paddle in place instead of just lazily floating there. This was going to be a beautiful episode.

I'm not going to miss G5 music.

Stingrays get a bad rap because of what that one did, but they can actually be very friendly fish. I've met a few.

Seriously, what happened to Equestria's wildlife?

I can't tell what Sunny's eating.

Even Izzy didn't prepare a gift ahead of time. Shame. I guess her powers require spontaneity, but I could not handle living like that.

The cake. :(

"Get it?" "... No."

Aww, Sunny spinning in a circle was going to be cute.

Cocks should never live this down even if he does turn around Hasbro's finances.
