If it's not really spicy, it's not good.(not really a curry person, but I put various hot sauces on pretty much everything and on occasion eat raw peppers(Including ghost and scorpion varieties... Scorpion tastes much better than ghost, BTW)

And sometimes it's sneaky. This one Thai place, I had chicken in a sweet chili sauce. It tasted like candy on the way in. On the way out? Completely different experience.
