There are certain foods that you need to have people eat BEFORE they learn about it.

My parents had a similar moment many, many moons ago when they had won a trip to san francisco and had a kind of lovely dinner at fisherman's wharf and ate calimari. They only found out what calimari was when they got home and asked about it.
