I've been thinking about a problem... and you all seem like the right people to ask.

Have there been enough Windblade based Slipstreams that the v-tols 'feel' like part of Slipstream's design too now?

I got to thinking about this yesterday about how to go about making a custom g1 Slipstream repaint ... and I was like... Do I use a starscream or a thrust?

so what do you all think?

To me, I think the thing about Slipstream is that her wings are different from Starscream, even if they have a similar body design. Using Thrust's wings would certainly fit that bill, but I'm not sure I would consider the VTOLs as necessary per se. That said, of the G1 Seeker wing options, Thrust's are probably the best candidate, short of modifying the standard wings.

I don't have Earthrise Thrust but does it have the wing articulation to put them in the traditional seeker configuration? Otherwise it would mean the wings end up on the hips.

Ben Yee's review has several pics with the wings folded up like that. Not a bad look.

Interesting. I still want to see a Slipstream from the Earthrise Starscream mold, maybe with some retooled limb parts and such. (But FFS give me a Sunstorm FIRST).

But for some reason the Legends redeco really made an impression, being the first retail (well, in Japan) execution of the design with a very pretty metallic color scheme. Plus the VTOL fans make her more distinct from Starscream while largely keeping the vibe, so that's also good. Got me to buy the Legacy one as soon as I saw a better head option for it.

In sum, I'm happy to continue the pattern. No VTOL fans, G1 Starscream mold. VTOL fans, a Windblade mold. (Of course this doesn't preclude putting those colors on, say, the Cybertron Starscream redo. But I want a proper SG Starscream that doesn't turn into tofu first.)

If Hasbro could remold the torso to be more like Slipstreams, then I think both Seeker or Thrust molds would work.

Though, I'd still like to see Hasbro make a dedicated Female Seeker mold.

This. There's plenty of female Seekers in various continuities that could be ported into a Generations-type line, it's high time we get them in a mold that's not a Windblade redeco. (Not to mention room for new characters)
Agreed. Plus Cyberverse and Earthspark turned many of the existing Seekers, female. They could literally make a Female Seeker mold and repaint it as every Seeker and Conehead they have. I'd get female Red-Wing and Novastorm just to rename them Stormrave and Tempest.

thanks for all the responses everyone. I think I might try tracking down a pair of Thrusts from the Earthrise seeker mold and use one for Slipstream... if they ever reissue it.... that aftermarket price is not good lol.

I join the chorus in thinking we need an official female Seeker mold already.

I preferred ER Starscream to SS '86 Starscream, but still bought the latter for the throne and coronation gear.
I had this extra Starscream though, and wasn't sure what to do with it. Eventually I got Gen Selects Sandstorm, and thought it would be cool to have a Conehead Seeker body type with a standard Seeker head. SS '86 Starscream's helmet was painted a dark grey with a slight brownish tint, which I thought worked well with Sandstorm's desert camo scheme.

I thought it looked good and was ready for that to be that... except the standard Seeker head doesn't fit in the Conehead nosecone.
So a proper Nacelle- Thrust's body with the standard Seeker head- isn't going to be possible unless they switch the entire nosecone assembly out, which may not be possible with how the mould works.

It also means that a quick and easy G2 Ramjet to Slipstream isn't so quick and easy, because any female Seeker head would need to fit in that smaller nosecone cavity.

It's just really unfortunate there's not more universality there. Between fans mixing and matching and Hasbro potentially free to mix and match on their end... a standardized nosecone cavity would have made all the difference.

That is unfortunate. I had always assumed that it would be possible to swap heads around, but now it does suddenly make sense why Hasbro did the Cybertronian Nacelle instead of the one everyone wanted.

Any indication of why they didn't just make that jet mode piece standard to suit both head sculpts?

Couldn't Hasbro just swap the wings and lower legs from the Thrust mold to the Seeker mold?
