The Twit destroying Twitter is a Twaitor

So this was likely why the Twitter icon changed to a doge icon for a bit(which I'm still seeing but others are reported as having changed it back):

Trying to hijack the search term and get people talking about this to bury results for his lawsuit. That or he thinks the judge will actually throw it out and it's a pre-emptive victory dance attempt.

It could be that they had a spreadsheet they maintained with additional information that you wouldn't have in a database table. Stuff like why they were verified in the first place, possibly some contact details, notes, etc.

In any case, they've solved the problem by making the message intentionally vague when you click on the tick mark:
Which was to make it so that you wouldn't be sure who to block. Except the extensions can tell.

Ironbite-because Elon is a moron.

not Twitter-related but:

tl;dr:
Did you know Tesla has cameras both on the outside of vehicles and the inside, and everything is uploaded to Tesla? Anyhoo they’ve been exporting the videos, making memes of customers and then posting them on chat rooms.

Oh hey this should be illegal.

Ironbite-cept there's probably something in the end user agreement that makes this "legal".

All the more reason there should be more restrictions as to what can be put into an EULA.

Or better yet, just ban the concept of "software licenses" for physical goods altogether. Buying a car should be a purchase, and should come with zero restrictions and conditions.

"BUT MUH FREEZE PEACH!"

He also didn't hear about it until some random account he follows retweeted it a few days later - betting they got the auto-reply with the cow-pie emoji.

Don't worry, he'll just shut down service to Europe, which will cuase Twitter code to find new ways to jive itself.

I kind of hope he does - it'd be a big wake-up call to a bunch of people over there who refuse to look at alternatives as long as it keeps working, because they have an audience there already. I understand not wanting to shake up your business but if you've not even started on a backup account elsewhere and building an audience there by now, well...

Elon eventually shuts off Twitter to the majority of the planet, someone comes up with an alternative to serve them, everyone starts using that instead.

From the leopards-eating-faces department:

Also, apparently Twitter as an entity no longer exists:

Wait, he's seriously just calling it "X Corp"? Are you allowed to name a company just a single letter, especially one that's frequently used as a generic placeholder?

He already has SpaceX and nobody's contested it. It's not like he has the creativity to come up with much more

Considering it's Musk, more likely he joined Foundation X. Have there been any urban myths about Kamen Riders lately?

Thing is, he believes that this relieves him of any previous responsibilities that Twitter had such as following anti-Nazi laws in Germany. Cept that's not how this works at all.

Ironbite-and many people are willing to educate Musky on this.

He's just following the crowd. Alphabet, Meta... changing your company's name in the hopes that it'll magically erase all your problems is just what you do if you're a tech bro.
