I don't know why they'd take it up if they intend to let the state court decision stand on its own. Either they intend to lay the smackdown or they plan to do this, and after all of this year's decisions this summer, I'm leaning towards the latter.

If they rule on that and they rule in favor of letting state legislatures do whatever they want when it comes to elections, the US is over. Such a ruling WILL lead to violence and war. This court NEEDS to be stopped and now. They CAN pack the courts, the filibuster rule isn't set in stone, just DO it and DO IT NOW before the Supreme Court completely wrecks the nation.
