If I were advising Trump, it is past time to stop calling his indictments "sad" "corrupt" or "unjust". If he wants to do those things himself and does them, he can actually pull off a master stroke, but he needs to start preparing now. He needs to start solely talking about it being a new political maneuver. If he can sell that, he can make an equivalency that takes the stink off of being indicted.

Some of his base are total morons and will never be bothered by this, but I live in a red state and know a lot of Trump voters. It should bother them if he does these things after railing that it is sad and corrupt and unjust.

No, all of his base are total morons and will never be bothered by this. If they weren't morons they wouldn't be supporting him. You just don't know your neighbors as well as you think.

Most of his base are total morons. The rest are total assholes who jumped on the bandwagon just to watch him piss other people off. Either way, though, it doesn't actually matter what he says or does at this point.

Unfortunately: not all of his followers are complete morons, although they are probably irredeemable assholes.

Trumps has stated he intends to invoke the insurrection act on day 1. He wants to arrest and prosecute the people whom were mean to him, rounds up everyone HE THINKS is an immigrant and herd them into concentration camps. Trump also has lackeys and the brainwashed in every level of government ready and willing to lie, cheat and steal to make it happen for him. An entire POLITICAL PARTY exists to try to get trump power by whatever means necessary.

Trump is not a ranting lunatic on the street corner screaming about the ends of days: he's a bonafied fascist, with means and people behind him. Everything he says matters because he's openly telling us what he's going to do, and after he does ALL that, and literally anything else he wants to do because term 2 will never tell him the word "no", do you think he's just going to let terms limits and law oust him from seemingly absolute power?

His old administration has already admitted that they never intended to transition out after they lost. Trump STILL thinks some conspiracy theory will come true and reinstate him as president before the next election.

Trump is a dollar store hitler, and has already almost taken over the country. He will try again, and dismissing his legions (cause they are the source of his competence.) will help him succeed.

The way the Republicans are treating the military right now, the moment he tries to invoke the act, they will remove his ass for acts against the Constitution.
Yeah, see, you like to think that, and we all want to believe it... but there was plenty of card carrying, active service members in the crowds on the 6th. There's enough of the military who are card carrying maga cultists, that might well prove problematic should there be a trump coup two: cheap ass bronzer boogaloo. Enough to help pull it off? Naw. Enough to cause some damage, continue to undermine your democratic processes, and further degrade the appearance of stability on the international stage. And that's without even touching brass who might be carrying water for trump, cause they don't feel like they've spilt enough blood for their country or some stupid jive and see him as a chance to go to war again.

And if trump somehow manages to get a second term: more than enough to act as his personal army. Project 2025 is actively seeking psychopaths and monsters for all positions under dollar general fuhrer, and cultists with guns to die for their cult leader will not be refused.

We want to believe that the system will survive trump, and do the right thing the next time (and there WILL BE a next time.) he or someone like him tries again: but the very fact that there are discussions regarding the enactment of the 14th amendment means there's enough doubt to collapse it.

Register to vote, get your friends and family registered to vote. If you've got the means: put an ad in your neighbourhood offering to help get people registered to vote. And Then vote blue. The only way out of this is to get republicans away from power, period.

A Colorado judge has ruled that former President Donald Trump “engaged in an insurrection” on January 6, 2021, but rejected an attempt to remove him from the state’s 2024 primary ballot, finding that the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban” doesn’t apply to presidents.
he provision explicitly bans insurrectionists from serving as US senators, representatives, and even presidential electors – but it does not say anything about presidents. It says it covers “any office, civil or military, under the United States,” and Wallace ruled that this does not include the office of the presidency.

“After considering the arguments on both sides, the Court is persuaded that ‘officers of the United States,’ did not include the President of the United States,” she wrote. “It appears to the Court that for whatever reason the drafters of Section Three did not intend to include a person who had only taken the Presidential Oath.”

That is a bizarrely-specific oversight. Almost to the point where it makes me wonder if there was a specific Confederate Army vet they were hoping would run for President and win.

FB friend:
Trump's technique of responding to questions in court by ignoring them and launching into a grandstanding political diatribe is not original. His idol Adolf Hitler did EXACTLY the same thing when he was put on trial for his failed 1923 Munich coup attempt. And if you think Trump isn't copying Hitler on purpose, you are too naive for this world.

The only major difference is that Trump is much older than Hitler was and won't likely live to see the end point of his schemes. But it still sets the precedent for the next wannabe dictator, so it still needs to be stopped.

Trump's gag order has been reinstated:
"In a country where the First Amendment is sacrosanct, President Trump may not even comment on why he thinks he cannot get a fair trial," Kise said.
That's an interesting way to phrase "he should be able to tell people to harass the court staff if he wants to."

The First Amendment prevents Congress from making laws restricting free speech. It doesn't say "You can be an obnoxious threatening cockwad whenever you want with no consequences".

he feels safe saying this jive right now bc only fash "news" channels are paying attention to him and cheering this jive on, but when the mainstream/non-fascist news channels are forced to report on the jive he's been saying after he wins the primary, he's so fucked. he's basically just handing the dems more than enough ammo to obliterate him, and he's too goddamn stupid to realize it.
