The best you can hope for is wages to go up proportionately. That won't happen either because these are Democrats, not Socialists, but historically that is the reason why populations have managed to weather inflation.

People always get hurt. It isn't perfect. But capitalism has mechanisms to whether inflation too.

People are generally somewhat averse to changing jobs because they are trained and their car knows the way and there are various benefit incentives, but in difficult economic conditions people are more likely to trade up for a little better wage, more likely to seek management jobs, more likely to enroll in junior college. Bad economies don't just recover because their nature is temporary. There are less robust economies that have a terrible time getting back out. But in an economy like ours where there remain a lot of possibilities, they recover because bad conditions drive changes that drive recovery.

Trump's lack of imagination is staggering. The January 6 convicts were all charged with specific crimes. 730 of them have actually plead guilty to crimes. Members of the same race and even members of the same club as rioters have not been charged. Only the ones with specific evidence that they were there assaulting or damaging property or entering restricted areas.

In stark contrast, none of the people in those internment camps were specifically suspected of disloyalty and no one believed that ALL of them were disloyal. They were all held there simply because it was accepted by the powers that be to be a reasonable precaution. It is so much worse.

But when Trump says that only those Japanese-Americans in internment camps for a few years were POSSIBLY treated worse than his precious January 6 convicts, he is probably entirely forgetting the African-Americans in forced labor for their entire lives, whose spouses and children could be sold off somewhere where they'd never see them again, who were packed into freighters with complete understanding that a great many who die on the way.

Considering the usual relationship between accusations and confessions from Trump, I'm now halfway there to assuming that he wants to ban vegetarianism.
If not for the fact that the animal rights movement didn't gain nearly as much traction since the '90s as anyone who was around back then surely assumed it would, this would definitely be on the far right's agenda, and prominent politicians like DeSantis would have been in the news for attempting it by now.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Desantis has been... especially unlucky in his legislation: almost all of it has been undone by florida courts. If banning vegetarianisn was on his to do list; he's probably not gotten to it from all the backtracking he's had to do.

Well, there's another childhood hero lost.
It actually doesn’t surprise me. Given the general dynamics of the 70-80s wrestling industry and the nature of the talent, I figure most of the “old generation” probably skewed conservative. Just watching the “Mr MacMahon“ documentary on Netflix, the parallels to Trump were noticeable. And I figured a LOT of the people who were most supportive of the man were politcally conservative.

Well, he was a key figure in "The Corporate Ministry" slate of villains, so it's hardly out-of-kayfabe for him.

I have a high baseline of not caring who celebrities are going to vote for but... I mean...a professional wrestler? If there is any basis for the idea that a WWE legend would be making good decisions about politics, please go ahead and share that.

Trump kicks off a Pennsylvania rally by talking about Arnold Palmer's genitalia

"Arnold Palmer was all man, and I say that in all due respect to women," Trump said. "This is a guy that was all man."

"When he took the showers with other pros, they came out of there. They said, 'Oh my God. That's unbelievable,'" Trump said with a laugh. "I had to say. We have women that are highly sophisticated here, but they used to look at Arnold as a man."

Just another typical day in America where a Presidential candidate who has a real shot at winning talks to a large crowd about a dead golfer's junk. Ho-hum.
