So he doesn't even have a valid excuse for being late..... He was just letting Joe Rogan agree with him for a few hours and lost track of time.... Hopefully a few of his rally-goers get fed up with his inconsiderate behavior and decide to either not vote, or vote for Kamala. Granted a lot of the people who attend his rallies are so far into the cult that I doubt being inconvenienced by a totally avoidable delay would change their minds at all.

"I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn't lose any voters."

The only factual statement Trump has ever made.

Yeah, no one at his rally can change their mind as fast as you are hoping. They are already his supporters largely because of how difficult it is for them to change their minds.

Edit - Egad, I feel like I've had an epiphany here. How deep this goes. Trying to change a Trump voter's mind isn't difficult simply because they've drunk his Koolaid. Having trouble changing their minds is the thing that attracted them to him in the first place.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

Sokath, his eyes uncovered!

Trump didn't make these voters, he appealed to their extant habits and attitudes. His core voter base, his cult: they were ALWAYS the kind of people to think they knew more, and were always right even when the evidence was there telling them they were wrong. Trump just coopted it, and made it about HIM. He drew in a good number of folks who could be made to think critically, not because he offered them anything, but because he took over the republican party. But some of the ones still capable of critical thought have walked away, probably more than I'm giving credit for.

Even some government agencies have admitted that it's a cult, and you can't ask them to leave it, you have to deprogram them.

Wonder how much money Trump promised him.

Oookay.

Arab Americans are slightly more likely to vote for Donald Trump than Kamala Harris, according to a new poll, in a worrying sign for the Democratic nominee’s chances of carrying the battleground state of Michigan, which is home to a large Arab American population.

The survey, conducted by the Arab News Research and Studies Unit along with YouGov, shows 43% supporting Trump compared with 41% for Harris, and 4% backing the Green Party candidate, Jill Stein.

The figures are broadly in line with a previous poll carried out this month by the Arab American Institute. Together they suggest that Harris’s support in the community has been undermined by the Biden administration’s backing for Israel’s year-long war against Hamas in Gaza.

The latest poll also shows Trump leading Harris by 39% to 33% on the question of which candidate would be most likely resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, while the candidates were tied at 38% apiece on who would be “better for the Middle East in general”.

The AAI's late October 2020 poll was 59% Biden 35% Trump for reference. The precise accuracy I'm not sure I'd put stock in but as a sign of a trend away from Democrats (at least this presidential cycle) over anger related to the Middle East shrinking a decades long double digit advantage with this demographic? Very believable, no bribes required.

I get that, but all indications are that Trump would likely be worse for Arabs than Harris would be. If they are worried about how much Biden supports Israel, what do they think Trump would do? Guy has a track record of supporting strongman leaders(while Netanyahu isn't quite as bad as some of the people Trump has expressed adoration for, he does use some of the same tactics) and Trump has engaged in anti-islamic rhetoric before. Also said mayor is a Democrat who likely knows what side Trump would be on if he wins. It could be him just trying to shore up his own votes to an increasingly pro-trump citizenry of his town, sure, but it still seems odd.

So unsurprisingly the MSG rally was a demonstration of putrid vileness. Not that it even matters anymore. Trump can have a speaker just go on about how black people love watermelon and they will clap and nod their heads and call anyone pointing out that is a racist stereotype a woke snowflake.

The same poll says they think by big margins that hate crimes against them will rise under Trump versus Harris. So it comes down to the Middle East conflict being a paramount issue for many.

I've seen several takes and I'm sure there's no overriding single one

-Punish the Dems and teach them a lesson

-The conflict & killing happened on Biden/Harris' watch, they haven't reigned in Israel, it can't be worse under Trump

-Harris hasn't differentiated herself from Biden's policies and instead is campaigning with Liz Cheney and touting her Dick Cheney endorsement

-Trump's closeness with Israel/Bibi means he might have more leverage

-Trump has said he wants peace and at one point said he thinks Israel needs to end things quickly

These are all debatable and analyzing them logically I'd agree, some are uh, questionable, but these voters are pissed and feel helpless and trying to hug over the Democrats in the presidential election is certainly one answer to that. The Trump campaign is actively courting the Arab and Muslim communities and he had an imam from Detroit on stage to endorse him at a recent Michigan rally. That mayor is from a city that's majority Muslim.

I just don't think it takes a bribe or anything overly nefarious or Machiavellian to explain why this mayor is going the same way a not insignificant portion of his community might be this cycle.

Fair enough on those points. Of course I read the whole 'Israel needs to end things quickly' as ominous rather than a legitimate call for peace. Maybe a lot of people read it another way.
