He didn't DIRECTLY kill the pope. Being in the general vicinity of Vance causes a general sense of unease. Directly communicating with him amplifies that unease to disgust, aggravation and possibly nausea. Given the pope's health issues it was just enough to push him over the edge

Trump’s burned a lot of political capital lately. His poll numbers are down, the economy's a mess, and even Senate Republicans are getting twitchy.

If Hegseth goes, Trump might not be able to get away with another goofball appointment. He’ll need someone who at least looks competent, just to keep the wheels from falling off.
