Other than completely lacking in charisma, desantis is basically the perfect republican presidential candidate. Spineless, soulless, completely without ethics and empathy. A wonderful puppet for the ones whom are smart enough to NOT step into the limelight.

He's a showman, BUT he desperately needs a script to follow, he can't improvise. A between him requiring an explicit set of instructions and trumps inevitable run regardless: the democrat vote should be enough to overcome in 2024.

The problem is 2022: there's entirely too much stacked against the dems, and the republicans are still too unified, obstructive and monstrous. Biden needs to pull something BIG outta his ass and soon otherwise the democratic voters won't even bother showing up in the mid terms.

The problem (well, one of the problems) with a cult is that they're loyal to the message, not the leader. If you suddenly change the message, they reject it.

Trump's in a pickle. To switch messaging to vaccine's suck to win his base back he'd have to tell people that Operation Warpspeed was a failure. Which means admitting something in his administration was a failure. He can't do that. So he gets eaten by the mob.

It's kinda beautiful from the outside, really. It's almost entirely lose/lose for the republicans. They NEED the cult. Desperately, because without them all the jerrymandering and voter suppression in the world won't work. But between the pandemic killing them off, and trump's big lie convincing them that there's no point voting, there will be less cultists than ever voting in both the midterms and in 2024.

I can't wait to see... how the democrats hug it all up anyway.

So apparently It's coming out that steve bannon and peter navarro had a large scale, comprehensive plan to throw out electors during the certification process. A plan which apparently involved 100 members of congress.

So my question is: when does the DOJ get involved? Cause the longer they put it off, the more it looks like treason is legal so long as you have an (R) next to your name.

Conspiracy to invalidate an election by sitting members of congress really should be investigated to the full extent of the law and ANY member involved should be expelled, but it won't happen due to the Dem's wanting so bad to be civil.

"Being civil" would also involve the other side. You know, NOT attempting to overthrow a legitimate government. Civility is adhering to the results even though you don't like them.

CIVILIZATION would be understanding that there is a system of laws structuring response to event in all levels, and that civilization can only truly exist when everyone is held to the standard of those laws. That, in fact, investigating sedition and coups against the government is a civil response to what is ultimately an entirely uncivil act.

You cannot be civil with barbarians.

Here's the thing with investigating sitting members of Congress and the current administration.

Biden and his cabinet are still power washing four years of jive build up on the walls of our Institutions that Trump and his cronies smeared over everything. There was a mass exodus of competent, lifetime bureaucrats under the last Administration that the only people left were the sycophants and the vacant seats just looking for a cushy government job.

Garland's trying to put together air tight cases against people presently in power with one hand tied behind his back and having been ruthlessly cut off at the knees. And STILL the traitors are running damage control.

Justice is a slow, lumbering beast at the best of times and when it comes to proving sedition and treason, you better make sure you dot every i and cross every t least the opposing party (Who is leaning ever more aggressively fascist) come in behind you and use a broad brush to start locking up any politician they dislike.

Guess what? This is what actual Government looks like. It's slow. It's ponderous. It feels like it caves far, far too often to the other side. Because the one thing the Democrats really are trying not to be are rulers. And that seemingly pisses off a lot of people who were rightly incensed when the other Party acted like it.
