I passed on both Titan Scorponoks but.... I might need this.

I might never get one due to the likely cumbersomeness and uncertainty about what to do with it, but I just love that this exists. It's like someone forgot Double Punch existed and wanted someone to face off against Omega Spreem. Absolutely displaced Zarak Maximus. Want these colors on a mainline Scorponok now... Even the Kingdom one.

I'm out. I love how bonkers this all is. It's not Evergreen. It's weird and different and does not care how you expected the characters to look, and it's beautiful. But the designs still need more paint than they're getting, and some of the alt modes are just dire. And elbows are a premium now.

This line needs something like Warriors or Prime Changers. These character designs deserve it.

Right now, the only thing that is on my must get list, is just that Scorponok. I'll end up displaying him with my G2 stuff. I'm sorry, I'm just a sucker for wild colors on transformers.

Scorponok's colors look like his Marvel UK coloring with a dash of Energon Scorponok's colors:

Or maybe Superlink Megazarak:

It's just hitting so many notes for me.
A chunky, toy-etic design? Check. Late G1/G2-like colour scheme? Check. References to Action Masters, the UT, and Marvel? Check, check, and check.

I don't know how many of these references were intentional vs happy accidents, but I'm loving it.

Conceptually I think it's great, but the execution just isn't grabbing me, but it's nice to see a toyline that feels more like what we used to get in the 80's-2000's, and I might have to get that Sky-Byte car regardless.

If the new show starts in summer, when are the releasing those last eight Earthspark episodes?

I’m not impressed by Transformers by Madlibs. I can understand the interest in new vehicle or robot designs but a lot of these strike me as being different for the sake of being different. The approach is too gimmicky for my collector tastes but also not gimmicky enough to excuse the resulting robot and altmodes. If the kids like it so be it but.

Out of curiosity, what would be "acceptably" different without being "different for the sake of being different"?

That's the thing. There seems to be some appetite for something not Evergreen or super referential towards past media in the fandom and this seems to be the first thing doing something like that in a while and now it's "well it's different but in the wrong way."

I donno.

I get it if this stuff isn't everyone's cup of tea. A lot of it is aimed at the younger kid crowd. And that's fine! I'm probably not going to get most of this line.
But there are unique and fun concepts here that I'd love to see Hasbro expand on.

I dunno, just something about the choices strikes me as uneven. It’s not an objective thing but more of a feeling of “what does this say about the character?” Bull Megatron isn’t the norm but evokes strength, stubbornness and gives your antagonist devil horns, so it makes sense from a design perspective. Scorponok being a scorpion like construction vehicle or Optimus and Bee being basically the same vehicles but slightly different is a middle ground. stuff like sticking wheels on a shark named Sky-Byte instead of making a shark-like plane, or changing everything about Galvatron but keeping his G1 colors is haphazard in comparison.

I mean, it could still be a serialized narrative spread across the 36 shorts.
