I wouldn't take anyone winning for granted. RID2001 is not exactly easily available to watch these days.

It is for anyone who has a good Internet connection.

While Nemesis Prime is a great evil prime name, I will always love how Scourge's name didn't beat you over the head with him being an evil Optimus. All you had to do was look at him and be like "Oh, i get it."

It's funny. Had Hasbro actually thought of the name "Nemesis Prime" at the time, they very likely would have called Scourge that instead. And would have matched his original "Black Convoy" name.

Instead, because it took them another year or so to come up with the name, we got that weird period in the Unicron Trilogy where Takara tried to embrace Hasbro's "Scourge" name for the evil black Optimus while Hasbro used "Nemesis Prime". It took the Alternators/Binaltech toy to finally unite the "Nemesis Prime" and "Black Convoy" names together in each market.

But it was Copy Convoy who started the Nemesis Prime trend.

Or, arguably Onyx Primal, even though his deco was different.
It's a fallacy to conflate being the first to do something with having impact (another form of "correlation does not equal causation").

Scourge had undeniably more impact than his predecessors.

(Vote for Kelly, anyway!) ;)

RiD Scourge basically ceased to exist in fiction (well, US fiction) up until RotB, and that doesn't even include his "evil optimus prime" aspect and basically has nothing to do with the original character besides choice of altmode. Outside of a couple of Japanese references, every other time an evil Prime showed up after that was it was Nemesis Prime.

Meanwhile Sky-Byte has shown up a couple places, like IDW1 and Cyberverse, and both times he hews very close to the character from RiD, from alt-mode, to color scheme, to his interest in poetry.

Under this logic, Beachcomber is one of the most influential characters in the entire franchise.

Dunno why Derrick Wyatt hated him so much, since he really wanted to have Animated kill off its Beachcomber in some horribly gruesome fashion.

There's been plenty of Black Convoy all the way back to G1. And while BW might have had the first not-good Black Convoy/Prime/Primal; CR Black Convoy/RiD Scourge is still the one that left the biggest mark and really codified the whole thing. Most Nemesis Primes since then have had his colors in some way, as well as usually having a red weapon, mostl usuall a sword.

The one where she didn't lose her hat? 🙃

I say this because I was going through Botcon 2004 Pasadena photos, and I came across one of T-AI without her hat. It was somehow both racier and more tasteful than anything Takara licensed.... I can add it to my Flickr and post a link.
