So, previously, there was a pic or two of the new Legacy Armada Optimus wearing the original Armada Overload in cannon mode, which was originally believed to be just sitting on top of the new Armada Optimus.

But, according these two Reddit posts, the new Legacy Commander class figure looks to actually be backwards-compatible with the original Armada Overload:

These two shots give me a "can work, but not really supposed to work" vibe. Like Combiner Wars pegs on Legacy Menasor.

Looks like it's just that long, rectangular clip in robot mode as an attachment, which is concerning long term considering how beefy Overload is.

I thought in Thundercracker's case they were the same thing.

Oh! Make it even better by having part of the mold cast in glow in the dark, and other parts in UV reactive plastic, so no matter what light conditions, it STILL won't match itself!

So apparently, DNA Designs has an upgrade kit for Legacy Prowl:

It looks really cool but once again, it's like, the exact cost of the figure that it's supposed to be upgrading. I'm not sure that I'm seeing fifty-plus dollars of Prowl when I look at the finished product, but there it is, for those interested.

Almost like having to buy a second Prowl to get the armor in Animated.

The shoulder armor also looks like it'll restrict articulation. You're already shedding parts between modes regardless, just partsform the damn things instead of that stack of hinges.

The gold doesn't match the base figure but I'll be generous and assume that'll get fixed for the final product.

The weird part is that this is finally the line where 'Action Master' colored Thundercracker would BLEND IN, and it hasn't happened....

Shattered Glass would be better at this point.

Shattered Glass is never better.

I thought in Thundercracker's case they were the same thing.
Unless we're getting nitpicky about the faction symbol's color (or, even more-so, about transforming), they are.

CoffeeHorse probably just doesn't want an Action Master-colored Thundercracker released in the SG line because it would be more expensive/harder to come by than if it were sold in another line.

How so? At least you know that Pulse carries Pulse exclusives and ships them out if you order them.

Walmart, Target, and Amazon are relative crap shoots (both on-line and in-store) these days…

Yeah, but SG also is willing to go the extra mile in their subline, so he'll likely look the best there, where as a regular might have have to cut something to fit the retail price point budget. Plus the last time we got a AM Thundercracker it was in SG, so that's likely be where he'll be next released.

I'd think that the barrier to doing AMTC is the headaches paint budget and parts layout would cause compared to the potential returns. He has a ridiculous number of colors that probably don't translate well to the way toys are manufactured currently.

I have a compromise for that! Just give me a glow in the dark Starscream and call him a ghost, without all the clear-plastic issues. Almost no paint involved, and then his deco budget can go to his same-mold wavemate!

And while I'm dreaming, I'd like a pug puppy, I'll name him "Snort" so he will be one of the few dogs who can say his own name...
