Transformers Legacy toyline

It's partly fatigue and partly because even for those of us who want the usual characters, well... We have them now already.

Part of it is also just having wanted the obscuros forever for one reason or another. The 90s were around the time I could first more directly experience Transformers toys as they were coming out (partly an age thing and partly an exposure thing, as we'd just moved to a bigger city). I remember seeing G2 in a handful of stores, and the handful of remaining G1 product in some specialty stores was a few Pretenders and Micros and Euro stuff. So while I'm keen on the golden-years ones, I'm always rooting for more of the latter-years ones. Give me Thunderclash. Flash. Erector. Finback. Etc.

I'm also eager for Dinoking because that makes the most sense for the molds (especially given the somewhat uneven or uncertain direction for Core class anyway), although I wish more retooling had been done to make them more distinct. I did get Slug and Snarl (my dino bois), and have been tempted to get Swoop (just looks good). But hell, if they were to make all the G2 dinos I'd rather they use these molds because I really wouldn't be able to support all the Leader class ones (at most, maybe Slug and Snarl again).

I like the late Euro G1 stuff for the same reason I like late JG1 stuff. Both factions went through a succession of leaders that weren't Optimus or Megatron. We will never live through an era like that again, and I never got to live through it in the first place.

The Euro G1 stuff was available in Canada though! We lived with it alongside regular G2 stuff. The Predators were also in Last Stand of the Wreckers, and Skyquake showed up in a ton of background shots in various IDW comics.

I've always been surprised that the kids that grew up in late G1 & G2 seem underrepresented in the online fandom. I know a ton of fans local to me that are all big into G2 and wish they got more love. G2 had a TON of great character designs, even if they didn't get much in the way of fiction.

I think the lack of fiction is a big part of it. There's just not much to talk about since the main show G2 got was G1 with a gimmicky overlay. The comic was comparatively niche (but would get discussed), and most other stuff was even more so.

People could discuss the toys, and fan fiction ideas, but there wasn't much that's official (and thus uniform) to collaboratively explore.

Plus I guess it's a timing thing as well, and it's a bit of a narrow window. The internet and discussion venues were just emerging, most of who was on ATT and the like grew up with earlier G1 (and were encountering these as existing/continuing fans), and the batch that would come in during a more robust internet era were probably ones that came up for BW.

I've always been curious about the Euro experience though, since the tail end of G1 was somewhat exclusive to the region (before things got ported over stateside for G2).

On the other hand, the two G2 comic issues Fleetway published exclusively in the UK tried to cram in as many G2 toy character cameos as possible, all while also trying to adhere to the status quo of the US comic series as established at the end of Issue #3 and right before Issue #4.

And between him, one of several Impactors, and Cyberverse Rack'n'Ruin, we finally have some version of all the classic Wreckers in toy form!

Pretty much the only reason I got that toy.

I'm not normally one to buy third party toys, but I did pick up a Rack-n-Ruin kit from Ebay:

The Cyberverse one just wasn't in the classic comic style that I was wanting, and this one hit all the right buttons for me. Kit includes (2) green knockoff Legends class Warpaths along with new heads, linking piece, and lower arms.

Got Cannonball. I was very worried that there would be some mold degredation, like with some previous releases.
I'm happy to report that everything is nice and tight and he's different enough that he stands out from the other mold mates nicely. I'm very happy with him overall.

I'm not sure if there's ever been official guidance on Xaaron's pronunciation, but for what it's worth, I've only ever used two syllables (either ZAY-ron or ZEH-ron, admitting that it alternates in my own head)

Every time I've heard his name spoken, it was like "Aaron"/"Erin" with a Z at the beginning ("Zare-rehn"), or like "Zare-ron".
