Hasbro’s Mark Maher posted some BTS of Antagony on his Instagram. Beyond a test shot of a “comic color head”, are details of his attempts to incorporate some Transmetal representation. Further, he detailed efforts to make the Scavenger head “cross compatible” with either Antagony OR Inferno through creative deco compliments. The alternate head DOES look pretty solid on Inferno.

I had first planned the alt head to be Scavenger way back when Shu san and I were working on Inferno. My thought here was trying to get some representation of the Transmetals line, possibly hoping for a full fledge partial in order to do some of the characters. Ultimately it didn’t pan out, but you can see hints to this idea I had in several Kingdom characters, much like the buzzsaw weapon that came with Tarantulas.

To note, if you utilize the Scavenger head on the Inferno mold you will notice the purple colors match to the shoulder paint. But, if you would like to use the Scavenger head for Antagony, the gunmetal color matches the waist and shoulder paint. I’m trying my best to give people options when I can as I don’t want the alt heads in some of these molds to be tossed into the abyss.

Lets talk about how lovely this sculpted detail looks as this carpenter ant alt mode rips a fozzilizer to shreds! The metallic raspberry just pops along with the soothing predacon purp! You will also notice on an early engineering pilot test shot, I actually was thinking about homaging her original comic apperance but once I saw how good the purple looked on the movable mandibles, it won me over.

I just got Legacy Animated Prowl and it's s**t. The transformation is AWFUL and the wheels won't go round as the shurikens keep opening up and getting caught in the wheels. I honestly would have preferred a recoloured and slightly remolded Arcee for this character instead of the turd this toy is.
Edit: - I think the shurikens rotate in different directions (left or right) and so they need to be placed on the "correct" wheel to avoid them interfering with the wheels?
(Rotate "left" for front wheel)
(Rotate "right" for rear wheel)
Is that right?
Also, the head looks derpy. The chin is too long and his mouth looks like a pouting little boy's. It needs to be more G1 for it to work IMO.

Cheers for this. I don't really see the point of the Scavenger head as it doesn't really complement the regular Inferno body. No one's making you use it, what's wrong with giving people options for their collection?
Until someone on Shapeways makes an Antagony head, I'll probably use the Scavenger Head for her to differentiate her from Inferno.
It reminds me too much of Emperor Zurg to take it seriously, tbh.
That's funny because I'm pretty sure TM2 Scavenger predates Emperor Zurg's head design. (He didn't show up until Toy Story 2)
To be fair, angry eyes and a giant toothy-looking scowl describes a lot of 90s toys, which is clearly where Zurg gets it from.
No offense but 'more G1' is the last thing a new toy of a character from Animated needs.
Not when 'more G1' is the entire point of the toy. Whether that should have been the point is debatable, but that's what Hasbro decided to do, with questionable results.
It's pre-earth, so he doesn't have his Earth mode yet.
But yeah, they should have given that slot to a different character, especially given they also used the Siege Seeker mold for Senator Shockwave.
