It's pretty weird stuff. I wouldn't think extra release fluid would spiderweb like that. No apparent regrowth since my scrubbing with Clorox bleach/cleaner though (nor any bleaching or discoloration of the plastic) so good enough for me.

That's an improvement, and fits with what we know of the manufacturing process (I and many others give figures and model kits a rinse in water before assembly simply to make the paint adhere better due to residual release oil sometimes messing it up), but in the interest of staying within 'Internet Rules' I will somehow misinterpret it as something horrible anyway...ok, here's my first idea:

"I thought my Transformer was molding, but it turned out instead to be releasing fluid..."

I remember when I bought the TRU reissue of MP Grimlock there was so much mold release oil on the toy it had pooled in the plastic tray behind it.

Mold release is largely silicon-based lubricant. That would explain oily residue but not the white powdery stuff which is in clumps rather than a layer over the toy.

Any official word from Hasbro or Amazon on this?

Anyone think we may get a 40th anniversary release of Armada Unicron? (Platinum Edition version) This time with green leds behind his green transparent eyes?
I'm surprised it haven't been OSKO'd as a cheap alternative to the Haslab version.

I'd think a new Titan Class Armada Unicron would be more likely than a re-release of an old mold at this point. One with a Cybertron Primus remold baked in.

By now, that Armada Unicron mold has been reused so many times that it's now mush. The last use it got, the Encore green-colored Unicron of Light, can hardly hold itself together. The planet shell halves don't want to stay closed in planet mode, and the shoulders don't want to stay attached to the torso in robot mode.
