Did One Starscream say 'kill me' at that part though?
I just saw it again. He says "hit me!" , "harder!", and "mercy" at the end but he never says "kill me"

One thing that bugs me is how Megatron and Bumblebee are the ONLY ones in the movie to not have names, and just Letter/Number designations.

Arcee as R.C. would have worked in that regard.

Elita1 could possibly been done as L.E.(something). A.1. The T could have been added because she was assigned to Trash.

No idea about Orion Pax. Maybe he had a letter number designation but was dreaming big enough to give himself a real name for fun beforehand.

One explanation I heard was that Cybertronians give themselves their own names. If they haven't found a name they like then they just stick with whatever their numerical designation was when they came online. Orion Pax named himself, but B-127 and D-16 hadn't found names they liked yet.
This gives context to the "BADASSATRON" joke because B-127 is desperately trying to sell it but no one around him buys it so it's not sticking.

ofc this is what fans have inferred rather than what was explained, which is a problem.

It's funny the problem they've created just because all the previously established pre-self names are from wildly different continuities. Optimus is Orion Pax (G1 cartoon), Megatron is D-16 (Aligned) and Bumblebee is B-127 (Bumblebee movie)

Elita-1 isn't Ariel? Maybe Disney would sue? I dunno.

Yeah, uh, there's no way Hasbro could use that name for their line of non-Disney transforming-robot character toys.

Same reason they can't use "Darkwing" either (don't expect them to make a toy of the TF One character).

I mean, there are other people and things named Ariel, and the Transformer predates The Little Mermaid. Not to mention it was also the name of a Thundarr the Barbarian character before either.

Really, they should be able to use it, so long as they didn't make her a mermaid or give her red hair or anything like that. Really, being female and their name are the only two things the two have in common.

Three, if you count being fictional.

But it would be like Mattel trying to sue people for using the name "Adam," or Hasbro going after anyone with the name "Joe."

That said, since Hasbro does license a few big lines from Disney, I can see not wanting to rock that boat.

At the same time, I wonder if they ever asked if they'd be fine with it?

The most likely reason that they don't use the "Ariel" name for Elita-1 is that they simply don't need to. Ever since Dreamwave established the "Orion Pax" name as being what Optimus was called right before he had the Matrix put into in his chest, and that putting said Matrix inside him changed him into "Optimus Prime" (just like how Rodimus was called "Hot Rod" whenever he lacked the Matrix in the G1 cartoon), Hasbro has rolled with that for Optimus ever since. Elita, however, has had no reason to go by any other name than her own because, in Hasbro's eyes, she is not a Matrix-bearing Chosen One like Optimus and Rodimus, who get their names changed based on whether they are or aren't bearing the Matrix.

Plus, "Elita-1" is the trademark that Hasbro already owns, and can get as much mileage out of it as they want and need to, without needing to concern themselves about owning a second name for the character that they likely consider superfluous to the name they already own.

I like Optronix better, TBH.
It sounds more "alien," but otherwise I prefer "Orion Pax" myself. Yeah, it uses faux Latin but it's not the first or last time the franchise indulged in that.

Dreamwave's take on G1 seems to mostly be forgotten with IDW1, Sunbow, and to a lesser extent Marvel and IDW2 seeming to be the versions most modern takes draw from, so interestingly enough Optronix as a name's most lasting legacy seems to be as SG Optimus' pre-Prime name.

It's not even the faux latin, it's that he shares the name of a bloody earth constellation millions of years before any human even walked the earth. :)

"What's shakin' my dudes? Name's Jazz. Like the Earth music, which won't exist for another four million years."
"Pleased to meet you, Jazz. My name's Hound. Like the breed of Earth dog that also won't exist for four million years."
"And I'm Bumblebee! Also named for an Earth thing or two that won't exist until four million year from now."
"Solid! We got some funky futuristic names, my good Auto-buds!"

Yeah, but that's because they were lazy and didn't give them pre-earth names. (Outside of B-127 in the films)

They went out of their way to give Prime a unique name that he would never use on earth and it's still loaded with Earth references.

One can either take the IDW1 approach that the Earth-like names are convenient translations (Jazz stated in an interview that he took his name from a Cybertronian music style, and the closest English translation is, well, Jazz), or just shrug and learn not to expect that kind of logic from an 80's toy line.

I've always favoured a more abstract translation.

Cybertronian name: *high-pitched digital tone*
Literal translation: Syncopated rhythm arising from apparent chaos
"Fixed" translation: Jazz

Cybertronian name: *modulating digital beeps*
Literal translation: Hunter tracking prey through shadows
"Fixed" translation: Prowl

Cybertronian name: *shrill screech*
Literal translation: Last radiometric signal from a collapsing singularity
"Fixed" translation: Starscream
