I'm with CoffeeHorse in that discs gives you that security of having it on hand if you ever loose internet or if the media you're looking for is no longer available for some reason on streaming services. Then you just need to have power to run your TV and disc player.

Glad I waited to just watch this on Paramount+; it wasn't really worth a theater ticket. Not bad, not good, just was. I'll never understand why they can't just let the Transformers be the main characters of their own movies.

When I can no longer have physical copies of the shows and movies I want to watch, I guess I will have to pull a "Reign of Fire" and act them out for my kid at night. Not gonna pay for a streaming service just for the privilege of watching shows I should have been able to buy on disc.

I am amused that when they talk about scrolling the wiki, the screenshot they show isn't even of the main Fandom Transformers wiki, and is instead the Fandom Transformers Movie wiki. Possibly because the ROTB article on that one is longer. Because they copy/pasted the trivia section from TFWiki's ROTB article.

You don't know how much you need disks until your internet goes out on the weekend for hours and hours and you have three kids to entertain. :p

I like the convenience of streaming, but I want that physical disk back up in case I lose my internet connection or go somewhere that doesn't have it.
I learned that after a storm knocked everything out and we didn't have internet for a week after getting power back, suddenly saved games on the cloud weren't so great when I couldn't continue my progress.

I live in hurricane country, so I can't depend on the cloud even if I could trust companies not to remove things from it. Disks and portable players are a must.

I used to live there myself. Got to have the disks, especially with Broadcast TV not being anything worth speaking of these days.

Well, there goes another source of revenue for them, streaming, isn't profitable and I'm surpised they are getting rid of Physical media at this stage, I mean, right now, they need every penny they can get to buy the remaining third of Hulu and that is going to cost them, a LOT of money, which they don't have right now as everything is down in terms of finances, they had a string of bombs outside of Avatar, Guardians 3 barely broke even, I believe, Indi 5 is a MASSIVE flop for them, parks are loosing people, the streaming service isn't getting people in, so they are in a tight financal pinch right now, which is why lots of people have been thrown overboard of late, they are penny pinching and diving behind the sofas to find anything they can for this upcoming bill, so getting rid of a source of money, is plain insane as they pretty much consume their own content after it leaves cinemas, AKA moving money from the right pocket, to the left pocket, so they aren't making money off their movies, not serious money, besides, this will likely lead to pirate copies being made and flooding the market for those who want a physical copy of a movie so that these companies cannot alter the content in any shape or form!

That's why I have several external hard drives connected to my STB/video game consoles, containing media.

I need to get the whole home media server setup going, I just never have the time which i why I use my disk library as my back up.
No server need. Just download or backup video/music files to a harddrive, install a competent media player to the smart tv/stb of your choice and connect the hard drive. I use an Android TV box, complete with internet browser, torrent software, file manager and media browser. Coupled with the various official and unofficial streaming apps, I want for nothing.

It's over. ROTB dropped down to 322 theaters and is finally out of the top 10.

This film got one last chance to brag though. The per theater gross still held fairly steady. So once again the drop in theaters is disproportionate to the drop in its performance. It's just gotten crowded out.

At least it finally hits Japan this Friday.

Well, I finally got to see the movie on Thursday. My thoughts.

Spoiler Free Review:

This film starts off heavy and then has a long lull until the main human protagonists meet up with the Autobots. The film is in continuity with the Bumblebee film and mentions the previous human protagonist in passing. Optimus is a less experienced leader and a bit xenophobic in this film, and the other Autobots don't really do much. The Maximals arrive to help fight the Terrorcons, and we get a massive battle. Ultimately, our heroes save the day, and our humans go on to lead their lives. I would give this film 3 stars, but I would advise not taking little children, as the film has a lot of cursing especially in the soundtrack, which made it awkward watching with my three kids all under the age of 8.

Spoiler thoughts:

1. Mirage is the new Bumblebee here in this film. Pete Davidson does okay in the role but it would probably get old very quickly on repeat viewings.

2. I was spoiled by the Gi Joe Cameo in the film, and I was hoping for more. Like maybe the Joes would show up in the final battle to help, but their Quazi recruiting of our protagonist might be interesting for a future film or series. Still, I would have loved to see some Iconic GI Joe vehicles just show up to blast some Terrorcons.

3. As soon as we got to Earth, I wanted to fast forward. We literally waste 20 minutes showing how miserable our two humans' lives are before we get to the point/plot.

4. Airrazor's corruption isn't really explained that well. Like how is Scourge controlling her? We see her get hit by that weapon, but then nada on it. Would't have made more sense to just add a line like, "Let's see how she likes hearing our Master's commands". Then you can say that she hears Unicron's commands, which would work a lot better than Scourge. Then the moment with Optimus Prime at the end hits even harder when he tells Unicron to die.

5. The Terrorcon's power level seems to be very inconsistent. Like Optimus is even heavily outmatched by Scourge to the point that Scourge hardly even has to try to beat him at the museum. Then for the rest of the film they are just on par with everyone else.

6. The language in the film is a bit excessive in the soundtrack and serves no point in being there other than to say, hey this is the mid-90s in NYC so this is al they listened to. Assuming by the weather that they are in May of 1994, the top 100 billboard looked different with songs from the Crash Test Dummies, Ace of Base, Celine Dion, Beck, Salt N Pepa dominating the top ten. Now I am not saying they had to use those, but they could have used the radio edits of the songs that they did use, and the film would have been much better.

7. Bumblebee joining the fight, with the perfect LL Cool J song, was epic!

Overall, this film could have been much better if they had done four things:
1. Have GI JOEs show up to join the final battle. Sets up a Hasbro Universe better than this one guy in the bonus scene, and gives Optimus a reason to trust the Humans more.
2. Have Airrazor took over by Unicron, not Scourge.
3. Cut the human parts down to 5 minutes. We didn't need to see the Intern's work day, nor the cancelled interview, or the Doctor's appointment. Use that time for the Autobots, Maximals, or the Joes.
4. Just use the edited songs to make it more family friendly.

I mean, I don't care for all the cursing either, but this is nothing new. Since the first live-action Transformers movie has there been an abundance of swear words sprinkled throughout the dialogue of each film. Literally the second word spoken on screen at the beginning of AOE was the S-word. And both that one and DOTM got away with one F-bomb each. The Transformers films have long since established themselves as being unabashedly PG-13.

I don't mind the cursing being part of the script, but when its pointlessly in the soundtrack being blasted with no dialog, that is when its pointless and should be removed for a kids film. This film had that excessively. If I get the chance to rewatch it, I will count how many times the soundtrack curses.
