Make it... Bindependence Day!
Just general incompetence, really. Not that different to the bad optics that plagued Theresa May’s general election campaign. All rather last minute too. Seems Sunak called the election without consulting most of his cabinet. He had six months left, so needn’t have called it this early. Safe guess is that worse economic news is to come, and that Sunak thinks he can preserve more Tory seats with an earlier election. This seems easily avoidable and really weird?
We do need some level of rearmament. I’d rather we build the existing volunteer professional military rather than forcibly enslave kids for a year as free labour.Y'all do realize that nato in general is gearing up for a long term, cold war styled dick waving contest with china, right? Even canada is pouring money into its armed services. Because the SIZE of the standing army is more important in this context than the actual, true to life capabilities.
It's also why nato is trying to make a long term, america proof aid package for ukraine.
Edit: so yeah, they probably DO have more useful things to sink that coin into: but no amount of regional currency will matter if china starts WW3.
Well, the Tories are leaning very hard right at the moment, both on economics and nationalism / culture war rhetoric. They’ll certainly double down on that after the election, particularly if one of their crazies becomes Tory leader. In that case, it’d be preferable if the culturally liberal and not-nationalistic LibDems ended up the largest opposition party over the Tories. Although, honestly, I doubt that the LibDems will overtake the Tories, and I doubt that the size of the Labour majority will be like anything currently predicted by most polls.Yes X, but what does that mean? If it turns out to be true: how that does that effect things?
Nigel Farage has announced he will run as Reform UK's candidate in Clacton, after previously saying he would not stand in July’s general election.
The former UKIP and Brexit Party leader said he had changed his mind after spending time on the campaign trail, adding he did not want to let his supporters down.
The Essex seat, which was the first to elect a UKIP MP in 2014, has a Conservative majority of 24,702.
Mr Farage also revealed he was taking over from Richard Tice as Reform's leader for the next five years.
