Victory - Slow on the uptake

So my revelation of the morning:

Was looking at Star Saber's stand and the big V on it. And the theme song started in my head: "V! V! Victory!..." And I thought "You know it's funny that his catch phrase is "Let's say Go!" and Go is the Japanese word for the number "5" and V is the Roman Numeral for 5. That's kind of a weird coinci... wait...

I never realized that it was an intentional motif before just a few minutes ago. Just took the name as a random heroic sounding word they picked.

Is it weird that that little bit of intentional play kinda makes me like Victory a hair more?

Heck, one of the biggest classics out there is just a car wreck of them in the title alone.

The name of the series, Mach GoGoGo has a triple meaning: "Mahha-gō" (マッハ号) is the name of the car; the name of the main character is Gō Mifune; and finally, it contains the English word "go". In the American adaptation, the Mach 5 stems from the number 5 on the door. Although, in Japanese, go (五) is the word for the number 5, the Kanji character gō (号) which is used in the car name actually means "item number" (i.e. it is an ordinal suffix). In addition, gogogo, is used as a general Japanese sound effect for rumble. Taken together, the program's title means, "Mach-gō Gō Mifune Go!"

The Transformers manga series Teletraan 15 Go! Go! and its titular character Teletraan 15. The "15" part is read phonetically as "Ichigo", which in Japanese sounds phonetically like a combination of the words "Ichi" (meaning "One") and "Go" (meaning "Five"). Essentially, the name "Teletraan 15" would be spoken aloud in English as "Teletraan One Five" instead of "Teletraan Fifteen", as the Japanese word for "Fifteen" is not "Ichigo" but rather "Juugo", which itself is a combination of "Juu" (meaning "Ten") and "Go" ("Five").

But then, why would the Japanese write the "15" part of Teletraan 15's name as "Ichigo" ("One Five") insead of "Juugo" ("Fifteen")? Because it's also a wordplay pun on "Ichigo", the Japanese word for "Strawberry". To match this theme, Teletraan 15 wears a pink and red uniform. And written as such makes the title phonetically read as "Teletraan Ichigo Go! Go!", using a similar triple-Go wordplay as the aforementioned Japanese title of Speed Racer, "Mach GoGoGo".
