I will say episode 7 was the first episode that was sad like that. I didn't know if that's something that will happen a ton going forward either. But episode 7 was beautiful and depressing at the same time.

I've been watching Kinokoinu, which is a cute series about a mushroom dog. Reading the summary on it, I expected a bit of sadness, but the 1st ep hit hard. Thankfully, it hasn't gotten too sad since then (so far).

I watched "my deer friend Nocochan" and it is as dumb as a bag of hammers... and not really in the fun way I was expecting.

it felt like if the 90's adultswim writers wrote sponge-bob for 12 episodes using clips of the show re edited together to be the A plot of the series, but also it's an anime

that at the same time there's also an ongoing b plot staring a side character from the A plot who's in a slice of life anime school...but she doesn't know she's also in this "ooh aren't we so random" show too...

<_< other people might like it, ... Rokutv, 5/6 recommends worked out so far, so I wont hold this one against you unless this is the start of the tide turning.

Dandadan this week:

Teenagers are romantically confused and shouldn't take love advice from 'magazines' found in their dad's study

'Banana' hunting aliens return with hired help in the form of Shin Loch Ness and Mantis Shrimp Tyson.

The follow up from last week's infinite sadness is bad ass power ups and a new favorite character design.

Shorter version: It continues to be weird and amazing.

There is no way to describe this week's episode sanely.

Alien fusions, the weirdest underwater fight scenes, and creative usage of objects to cover nudity.

That's the best I can come up with after days of thinking.

Oh and intentional shitty animation for comical effect to tie all of *motions at the paragraph above* THAT together.

I want to emphasize I loved the episode, I just can't explain it without sounding like I'm insane.

Season finale of Dandadan aired today, and I gotta be real - the episode was good, but it did not feel like a season finale. We stopped mid arch, not even on a satisfying cliff hanger, just like hard stop mid story. Wonder if something happened with their episode count or something, cause it genuinely just did not feel right.

In other news the series finale of Lower Decks aired tonight as well, and it was fantastic and I'm sad to see it go. Probably my favorite Trek in the franchise.

Still make me laugh that we originally got Paramount+ for Prodigy, which we couldn't get into - and were deriding Lower Decks as Family Guy Star Trek - but when Prodigy didn't scratch the itch we had, decided to try Lower Decks and very quickly realized that despite it's referential humor style it has a real heart and understanding of what makes Star Trek work

I'm going to miss the Cerritos crew immensely. Cerritos Strong!

I was intrigued by your posts, so TMM and I watched it. Very bizarre indeed. Even knowing ahead of time about the sad ep, I still cried. Leaving it where they did for the season is def odd. Probably counting on it getting renewed.

The scene with Momo getting assaulted by the aliens was uncomfortable as hell. Then they did it again at the onsen in the last ep. I know she'll survive, but the "heehee creepy old guys attacking a young pretty girl" is just *shudders*. Plus, I'm sure there's already gross fanart/fanfiction about it.

Also, not a fan of Jiji so far. He just feels extra obnoxious and fake. Hope he gets some development soon.
