This? This is just some wholesome fanart.

(One can, of course, debate whether such artworks as this miss the point that Dan was trying to make with his Deconstructed VN, but fans will do what fans will do.)

Kicking off October with a mashup/cover homage I found.

So this is one of PS+ free games this months
And nothing beats the low, low price of free! 😉

Sony's insistence on changing the blood colour in one pivotal scene to black drew some confusion from players, but that's the only major visual change between the ports of DDLC+ that I'm aware of. It's interesting that Nintendo (generally considered the more kid-friendly console maker) didn't do such a thing for the Switch port.

Anyway, October makes for a fitting month for promoting the Literature Club, both for academics and the run-up to Halloween. I dare say there will be a few more posts here and in the bakery (though Oct 2022's bakery post is hard to beat. The water balloon fight skit also got some attention over there, though sadly that video is now private.)

You meet a young lady, recently transferred.
She's starting a book club. Will you be the first new member?

--Wait, why does this all seem familiar?

A cosplay performance in one act, involving Yuri.

I've hidden it for spoilers for (one of) the DDLC endings.

What's this, Monika has some spooky book recommendations for the season? This should be interesting....

As you can see (or perhaps you saw in the CMV I put up a year ago), the cosplayer performs both Monika and Yuri. Not the first time I've seen that (or rather, heard that, courtesy of Vannamelon), but it's interesting to see both one person portray different characters as well as how different actors will bring something new to portrayals of the same character. (We've seen a few 3-D Monikas over the course of this thread....)

And remember, .

It's a mashup!

It's also Act 2 of DDLC in a nutshell....

Is it also a hint to more Halloween content? We'll have to wait and see!

So... I wasn't exactly sure where to place the following announcement, but here seemed best.

Although Vannamelon withdrew from doing DDLC content early this year, her animated material is still well remembered. Sadly, the melon team lost a key figure who helped make such endeavours possible.

What does one call it when a video game character plays a video game? "Gamerception...?"

Anyway, the Digital Ghost of Vannamelon's Upgraded Yuri comes back.... and plays Yandere Simulator.

There should be nothing to worry about, Act 4 Yuri wasn't a yandere herself.... right?

Some jumpscares at the start (because DDLC ghost data), but do stay to the end....

You click on a video link at the Tube of You,
only to realize that someone from your past,
someone you thought you had dealt with in a game a long time ago,
isn't done with you just yet....

Happy Halloween from the Literature Club! Or at least, just... you know....

For more fun, watch with the lights off and earbuds or headphones. It's just audio, after all....

Nope. Not clicking. I don't trust her.
That's understandable...
That said, it was a pretty good glimpse into a possible post-game version of the character....

She envies us humans for being able to grow beyond parameters, but laments that we often make unwise choices. She insists upon her being real, and that she only wants what is best for us. Although she is unable to self-diagnose, and her programming may have been corrupted....

You can see, perhaps, why I've made a few comparisons regarding "Characters that only semi-explicably have sympathizers in the fandom".

But Halloween's over now, and the world has gotten a bit more scary in a non-yandere-AI way. So in an attempt to lighten things up, a more robotic and comedic portrayal derived from Game Grumps' famous playthrough:
