What stupid thing did the GOP say or do this time? Episode 3!

I said it before and was pooh-poohed, but I'll say it again and I mean it. When the hardliners make McCarthy step down, the Democrats need to throw away the norm of ineffectually voting for one of their own for Speaker. They need to rally around a moderate Republican who then wouldn't need to listen to the hardliners or make concessions to them.

The United Auto Workers union has filed a labor complaint against Sen. Tim Scott for saying workers should be fired for going on strike.

The complaint filed with the National Labor Relations Board on Thursday accuses the South Carolina Republican’s presidential campaign of interfering with workers’ rights to engage in union activity under federal law. The right to strike is protected under Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act.

“Tim Scott threatened employees with adverse consequences if they engage in protected, concerted activity by publicly responding to a question about striking workers as follows: ‘You strike, you’re fired,’” UAW President Shawn Fain said in the complaint. CNBC has not independently obtained the document, but Fain confirmed its authenticity to NBC News.

What Tim said isn't just incendiary, but also foolish. The reason auto workers CAN unionize and nothing similar gets seen on some other lines of work is because the auto makers really aren't in a position to just fire them and bring in a new crew. Those workers have expertise that you can't put in a training video.

The House bill does not include aid for Ukraine

It doesn't sound like this is a done deal at all, because the Senate is not going to like that.

wonko the sane?

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

No, it is not. The democrats and the president will not allow putin and his lap dogs to win even a little bit.

It is a done deal for what it is. It kicks the can down the road for a month and a half. There are so many things that can be left out of such a short term stopgap without being tragic, so it should have been easier to pass one, but they did pass it and I say Kevin did his job better than I expected.

Gaetz already says he is going to try to oust McCarthy this week. McCarthy might be worth the Democrats rescuing, but for it to be him the Democrats are going to need something in return.

This is going to be a mess. Nobody in congress knows how to make a scene quite like Gaetz.

FUNNY THING ABOUT GAETZ!

Yeah seems that with all his antics, Gaetz isn't as popular with the rank and file as he thinks he is. An ethics review is happening and if things come back unfavorable towards him well, he might be thrown out of the Freedom Caucus.

Ironbite-which nullifies him pretty nicely.

I don't know why you're wasting popcorn on this one. It'll be boring:

gaetz will file a motion to vacate, it'll come to a vote, the democrats will save mccarthy, gaetz and his little crew of fascist fuckwits will be rendered irrelevant.

All this is going to do is push the house back towards center and end the power that the freedom caucus was abusing. The republicans don't have enough votes on their own to remove mccarthy, and the bulk of them don't even like the freedom caucus.

Normally I would agree with this, but what moderate Republican? The last ones I'm aware of either died (McCain), are in the Senate (Romney), were bullied into quitting (Gonzalez), or got voted out a term or two ago (Cheney).
