The newest article took issue with Parton using her Christian faith as a rationale for her acceptance of all people, including those who identify as LGBTQ+.

“Parton’s version of love, which includes condoning immoral sexual behavior, (be who you are she said), is unaligned with God’s vision for humanity,” the author wrote, going on to compare Parton to a secular leader spreading “false gospel.”

Now, it has been many decades since I've looked at a bible, but I seem to recall - and please correct me if I'm remembering wrong - that what Dolly is doing is exactly what Jebus said to do.

wonko the sane?

yes, but she's a country music and american media ICON... and if the monsters can't have her on their side: then she needs to die.

Of all the people to attack, Dolly is not the one. She is universally beloved. It'd be like taking a swing at Betty White.

As to the question, yes, Dolly is doing exactly what Jesus talked about. It's worth noting just how far from those teachings modern christianity, especially evangelism, is from the words of Christ.

These idiots wouldn't recognize Jesus if he appeared in their church with a halo and a choir of angels backing him up. Even if he showed them the holes in his hands and feet. Has soon has he reminded them of what he actually said they'd say he was Satan trying to trick them.

I mean, like... great. More heaven for the people that deserve it, and I get to enjoy the schadenfreude as they drop screaming into hell. Might even make eternity there bearable.

bold of you to assume you're going to hell.

i believe that Judaism's take on there being a more purgatory-like temporary afterlife for most people (since everyone ***** up to some degree) is closer to the truth... but i do think that there's a place like the greek tartarus reserved for people who have done so much evil, awful things in their lives and hurt so many people that their evil deeds can't be cleansed.

funny thing is, a good chunk of the people in "Tartarus" happen to be the kind of people who think anyone who isn't a straight white Christian who hates minorities as much as they do will go to Hell

I made a LOT of very tasteless, very diminutive jokes. Granted, for the small group whom knew I was being faceticious, but still.

It's kind of liberating actually, I'm trying to be a good person because I WANT to be a good person and no other reason.

plot twist: it turns out trying to be a good person because you want to be a good person and not because you're worried about your afterlife is all it actually takes to get to whatever good afterlife exists

if you're being good only because you're worried about a bad afterlife, then you're not actually a good person

So you can understand why I find it liberating?

Frankly: I don't really believe in any of that jive anyway. I just want my little corner of this miserable existence to be a little less miserable for everyone involved.

And ice cream. And some comic books. And maybe a fourth titan one day.

"Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones."
