I don't believe in proxy voting when it comes to politicians. This is your job. You're elected to do the work. Just like all of us, if you don't show up, you don't get paid.
Just to add to what Rhinox has said - if I understand it right and it works like it does here, the period before the vote includes a large amount of debate. If the congressperson isn't present and considering the debate then their vote is not an informed vote. (I realise it's wildly optimistic of me to assume every congressperson is open minded and able to be swayed by debate but some certainly are)

He continues to be all class.
I wonder what will happen with this suit he filed to stop this release.

Oh, and every accusation is a confession ad nauseum.

Not so sure of that. I'd imagine it would just pass to the third in line in that specific instance.

There is absolutely no reason why he would even want the job. Being the leader of the House Republicans has been the worst job since 2011.

It can't happen, Speaker is second in line to the Presidency. Musk is ineligible to be President because he's not a natural born citizen. Keeps him from holding any government positions that might lead him to be (officially) President of the United States... Not that they are going to bother noticing or even care.

If the legality of anything mattered to Republicans, they wouldn't BE Republicans.

Uh, yeah it can happen.
Should the speakership go to someone who cannot be president, then they are removed from the succession line. Basically, it'd just skip over Elon and go to whoever is next on the survivor's list.
There is nothing legally keeping them from voting him as the Speaker, aside from anyone with even a quarter of a brain not wanting the job.

Rinox, so your saying Musk probably wants the position.
. . . . . possibly. He's a man who likes to collect titles. And sycophants to kiss his ass. That position would supply both.
However, Trump is getting really pissed off at the "President Elon" jokes and we all know how he reacts when someone steals his spotlight. There is a bit of a campaign to send letters to Mar A Lardo addressed to President Elon, the kind of thing that really makes Dorito Grampa angry. I can see their relationship souring as Trump's time continues. He is a man who demands constant worship and when people turn against him due to everything going to jive, he's going to lash out. Elon is also one to not take jive from anyone and the second the Tangerine Nazi raises his voice, he'll hit back.

Frankly, I'd love to see the two of them fighting. Worlds worst cat fight, yes, but keeping the both of them distracted and at each other's throats can only be good for the world.

Huh, must have missed that part in my research. I stand corrected
