Very first line of the story is "bill is expected to face legal challenges".

Ironbite-no really?

DeSantis previously vetoed a more restrictive version of the bill that would have banned social media accounts for kids under 16. That bill also required Florida residents to submit an ID or other identifying materials in order to join social media.

That's how nutty the Florida legislature is.

Democrats won't do that because it'll make it look like they don't value floridians, and set a very dangerous precedent for republicans to abuse.

Republicans won't do it because florida is one their test markets for the man made horrors.

Nathan Explosion for governor. Even if it goes as badly as it did in the episode of Metalocalypse, it's still better than DerSantis.

I remember am instance from when I was young. Some place banned farenheit 451: and it was both shocking and the height of irony.

This dude isn't even that self aware: he's just trying to hide the bodies, and doesn't understand that everything he's done is already public knowledge.

I imagine that most of Desantis' work will be undone by the courts sooner rather than later. None of them were written or implemented in a way to pass legal muster.

So several of the people Desantis removed from office for not following his orders are running for their jobs again. Their opponents are using the line of 'Desantis will just kick them out again' as an attack line.

The man is not good for democracy in general. He needs to be checked. And by checked I mean kicked in the ass hard enough to fracture a tailbone.

I still don't understand how a governor can be allowed to remove another ELECTED official. I think Florida needs a new amendment to rectify that situation. They've essentially given one man the power to impeach.

Same. I genuinely do not understand how its legal for a governor to remove a sheriff, amongst other elected officials. That's far too much power for a single office to hold unchecked.

I mean: I could see there being justification for it; under conditions of extreme incompetence and/or treason, and it immediately triggers an election so that same governor cannot just appoint someone.

But desantis probably did not have the power to do it; the florida senate was tying itself into knots for this asshole.
