I know GB2 gets a lot of mixed reactions but ever since they had the 2009 video game i think more fans have opened up to the 2nd film and maybe VIGO will return. I saw afterlife that was fun and frozen empire i havent seen yet. I think days go by and GB 2 doesn't get enough love that 1 does.

Depending on what day you ask me, I will no joke say Ghostbusters 2 is the superior film.

The biggest knock I've seen against it is that it repeats a lot of the same beats as the first film, which okay it does, but it does them better.

1. Vigo is a bigger presence in the movie - Gozer was more of a force of nature that the Busters have a single conversation with, Vigo is constantly working through his minion Janosz.

2. They bust more ghosts - In GB1, we only ever see them bust one ghost: Slimer, while in GB2 they bust a few, mostly during the montage.

3. The scares are better (the subway scene haunted poor Scottsman when he was little)

4. Venkman is more of a lovable asshole than a sleazebag.

5. And they got rid of the smoking.

6. Most importantly, it's all original. New plot, new music, new jokes. None of it is recycled, and it's ALL good. The actors and scriptwriters haven't lost a step!

Truthfully, I tend to view GB1&2 as basically two halves of a whole. GB1 has the benefit of being the first, and nothing Ghostbusters related will have an impact like that again, but GB2 takes what GB1 did and does an extremely good job with it. It's shocking to me that the movie was recieved poorly enough that it turned Bill Murray off from doing sequels (until Garfield 2) and basically killed any chance of a true Ghostbusters 3. The videogame is the closest we'll ever get, unless they want to do an animated flick and substitute Maurice LaMarche in for Harold Ramis. (Probably the only person on earth I'd be okay with them doing that with)

Vigo was a damned creepy villain, and creepy dude in general. He still gives me the creeps today, and that idea of the underground river of slime in an abandoned subway system that could just come out and grab you in the bathtub absolutely terrified me as a kid. :ROFLMAO:

Was it the "perfect" or near-perfect film, in a structural and filmmaking sense, that GB1 was? Not really, but just like BttF2 and 3, it was a very fun ride in its own right and I still enjoy it just as much as GB1 to this day.

My problem is that I think GB2 does the romance between Venkman and Dana worse than GB1, and that's really saying something. And then it gives that romance more screentime.

Also, the scenes with the GBs are more plot-driven, without the plot being very interesting, rather than comedic with the guys bouncing off each other and their work. Compare GB1's finale, where it's mostly about the guys snarking and reacting to Gozer, to the finale with Vigo, where it's a full action thing with some quips.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the film. I liked it more than GB1 as a kid. But nowadays, revisiting it, I definitely see how it disappoints in comparison.

Anyway, I stopped by to see if anyone else is outraged about the HasLab Ecto-1 forcing us to choose between the Ecto-1 and Ecto-1A because of the stickers that can't be reapplied. It kills the whole point of having the thing convert.

That's why you buy two :D

Yeah it sounds crazy with the price but that is probably what Hasbro is trying to pull here.

I bought two of their last GB crowdfunder, the Trap/PKE combo, but I think I'll be abstaining on this one. I'm happy with my Hot Wheels 1:18 Ecto-1A.

Hopefully the next Haslab goes back to some kind of prop replica... we still need the Ecto Goggles.

Honestly I'm not sure what they could offer that would make Haslab numbers after this. The Pack, Trap, and PKE are the main pieces of equipment people care about. A GB2 Slime Blower I think is more Haslab worthy, but much too big to not break the bank. Goggles alone doesn't feel like there is a need for a full HasLab for. Really the best I think we can hope for is another Pack cycle with inspiration from either the original movies without the Afterlife weathering or the new packs from Frozen Empire. And honestly most of the work is done for the original packs.

They can be reapplied, though. At least five times, upwards of 10, and you get multiples:

I can't speak for everyone, but my opinion was always that it wasn't as good as the first but it was still a good movie and a lot of fun to watch.

But you know what was even more fun to watch?

Hasbro gave up on the Early Bird special. Everyone gets Tully if it funds!

It's Halloween, Ghostbusters fans
and you’re in for a very, very special treat!

In the spirit of giving, we’ve decided that if the Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ectomobile HasLab project successfully funds before it closes, EVERYONE who has backed either model will receive a 6-inch Louis Tully (Ghostbuster) action figure!
