Biden could use a little more warmth. He finally made a speech condemning the assassination attempt, but he didn't even tell the assassin that he loved him.

If anyone was curious why the media, in their desperation for another Trump term, spent two and a half weeks going wall-to-wall with "Biden had a bad debate" and completely ignored the stream of half-truths and lies that came out of Trump's mouth at the same event:

Democrats either believe the majority of major polls are completely wrong or need to DRASTICALLY change course very very soon because this is ******* unsustainable.

Teamsters, who endorsed Biden in 2020, may not endorse him again. Or they could just be playing hardball.

WASHINGTON, July 15 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden is on the brink of failing to win a key labor endorsement as leaders of the 1.3 million-member Teamsters union consider backing no candidate at all in the U.S. presidential race, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters decision has not been finalized and is expected to be made in the coming weeks.

Not backing Biden, who the union endorsed in 2020, would compound political damage to the Democratic president's reelection bid.

A Teamsters endorsement for Republican candidate Donald Trump appears unlikely, sources say, but deep internal divisions mean the union may not back any candidate at all. That would mark the first time since 1996, according to news reports.

The article goes into more of their issues with Biden in depth, but this stuck out to me as just blatant political malpractice.

Teamsters President Sean O'Brien will speak at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday night but is not yet scheduled to speak at the Democratic convention in August.

O'Brien reached out simultaneously to the Democratic and Republican national committees to speak at their conventions but only heard back from Republicans, Deniz told Reuters.

Teamsters President did speak tonight as planned. He made it clear that he has demands, but he is up for grabs. If the Biden campaign doesn't get him on the DNC schedule they are out of their minds.

He's already out of his. "We can no longer support this party that outed itself as not an ally to labor unions" is not a bad or incorrect take. "We're open to switching sides to the OTHER party that hates unions even more" is a sign of mental sickness.

Well, it is a li'l complicated actually. Yes, the Republican Party is anti-union. Increasingly so. But Trump himself is successfully postured as the one looking out for the little guy. If Trump wasn't so lazy, he could force the party platforms to make some big shifts.

That was the point of the speech. It wasn't an "I'm joining you" speech. It was a "Join ME" speech. The applause was very quiet at points. Whoever vetted the speech is probably getting an earful today.

But he praised Trump personally, and that may be all it takes to get some concessions out of a future Trump presidency.

Linda Sarsour was too antisemitic for the Women's March, but apparently not too antisemitic for White House Eid festivities last year.

Link

The White House hosted the anti-Israel activist Linda Sarsour at a May 1, 2023, Eid al-Fitr celebration despite the Biden campaign stating in 2020 that then-presidential candidate Joe Biden “obviously condemns her views and opposes BDS,” the Washington Free Beacon reports.

Sarsour has said that Zionism is similar to “white supremacy in America” and questioned the Jewish state’s right to exist.

The Free Beacon, which obtained White House visitor logs, noted that Sarsour’s visit “garnered little attention at the time,” and that in 2020, after the Biden campaign said that “she has no role in the Biden campaign whatsoever,” it walked that back in conversations with Muslim and Arab activists and called its own dismissal of Sarsour “disrespectful” and “hurtful.”

I'm not aware of that being a symptom.

(Although it has been known to be a cause. ;) )

Dude's vaccinated, so he'll be fine.
He's over 80 and the vaccine, while rather effective, isn't 100% protection. Upshot is the current strains of Covid-19 aren't quite as potent as the older strains, but they can still be deadly to the right person.
