I got better!

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting...while I was in the Wards, lower markets I think, for some reason Tali just started kneeling. I have no idea why she did it. Who knows how video game AI works sometimes. But I figured...nice photo opportunity.

Mass Effect took the back burner when Dawntrail hit. But I just finished ME2. So, slowly but surely.

Doing the Cerberus Coup now. You know, I've always wondered, between Saren's coup in the first game and the Cerberus coup here...just how piss poor is security on the Citadel?

The Citadel was a trap built by the Reapers, and both Saren and the Illusive Man are indoctrinated, so they probably had some kind of backdoor that let them in. But it's never really elaborated on. At least Saren had the obvious in-route of also bringing Sovereign and a geth armada.

I’ll be honest, despite how much of a jackass Udina is written as, I was disappointed that they made him heel turn into a traitor for the coup. Plus, a lack of any follow-up on how and why was a shame.

Plus, ninja edgelord Kai is and will always be the worst new character in ME3.

Looking back, I think it would've helped the pacing in 3 a lot if they'd moved the Citadel coup back to the beginning of the third act, after Rannoch. Say, the Asari Councilor contacts Shepard to talk about the Prothean beacon on Thessia, but realizes mid-call that the line's being hacked. EDI figures out it's a Cerberus bug, we race back to the Citadel, fight off Cerberus, and find out Udina planted it. He was compromised by the Illusive Man, who then sent Kai Leng to collect the data and clean up loose ends; but since we found the bug, they had to rush it, leaving us able to save the Council. That would set up how Cerberus knew about the beacon and send Shepard racing off to Thessia to stop him, kicking the endgame into high gear as we race against the clock to get there. Main downside is it would mean we don't get the Virmire Survivor back until a good chunk of the game later.

See, now that makes way more sense. As for the Virmire Survivor, maybe they could have reworked them into being sent off on a seperate mission and have them cross paths with Shepard.

The way the game dragged out the few companions you have the game was always a tad frustrating.

You know, the more I play this, the more Liara irritates me during Thessia. I mean, I understand that seeing her planet and people under attack like that sucks. But all I could think of is "damnit, Liara! You're not the only ones." Like seriously, Earth, Palavin, Dekunna...just focus for one hugging minute on the firefight we're knee deep in right now would ya?

Not to mention the Asari was (illegally) hiding a prothean beacon. So let me play the galaxies smallest violin for Thessia right now.
Thessia pisses me off for more reasons than that one. Its where the railroad starts. Its absolutely asinine that there is no way to beat Mr Overpowered Ninja man and keep the VI and the clues to catalyst.

I won't even get started on what the Catalyst should have been. I have a whole rewrite of Priority Earth and the ending that maybe I'll detail out one of these days.

I don't think I can say it any better. But this is what I just finished and I'm feeling mostly the same. Used to be Thessia was a punch to the gut. Now I'm just tired of Liara's whining.

For me that series is Zelda, but ME is a very close second. It's probably why I'm on my 18th play through.

I would almost like to do another Skyrim run, but I just know it would be my fourth Khajiit stealth archer and in another month I'd have the same quests completed living in the same home with the same werewolf wife and the same orphan children.

Which I guess is kind of a weird argument since a majority of my Mass Effect play throughs end the same way too. But still!

And done! A little more than 2 months. And that's with ME taking a backseat to Dawntrail.

I've played this too many times. 😵💫
