Now Maple get's her chance to scope out the casino floor and have some one on one time with Wander ..while not using her shapeshifter magic XD.

lol that must have been a DM post. I don't know how the rest of you felt when Zam would come in and add a little change to a scene you'd written your part of, but I always found it very helpful... while I was often want to have Maple use all the tools available to her (now that she knew they were) ... in this last scene like so many others, that little addendum always felt like Zam was trying to keep me from having Maple be too goofy ... after all, how covert can she be on a secret spyguy mission if she's running around the room tasting feelings by blepping her tongue out at everything XD...

or I suppose :p

I think the big fight starts right after this so she doesn't really get far. I think that was mainly noting IC that she recognized Plain Clothes but wasn't going to blow his cover. The quirks of different characters being in different places at different times.

lol it's nice to see Static finally joining maple on team "Night Cap's the best" ... you'd have thought his bestest best buddy would have been there sooner.. but oh well

Static - Night Cap (Square - Keen)

The group made sure everything was in order, then headed to the hospital. The doctor was surprised to see them. "Back already?"

Static raises an eyebrow at Night Cap. "That's just a natural reflex for you, isn't it? I think we all know you're the one who saved all our collective skins back there. Which is definitely going into my report."

Nobody quoted it, but I think we can infer that Night Cap said "It wasn't me." between those two posts.

wow that's some really big Maple text... O_O. I loved finding ways to use Maples 'out of combat' powers. I remember WAY WAY back in the day... before I joined the campaign and was just reading up all the past posts trying to catch up on things like team dynamics and how well the adventures went... giving her this "beckon" power seemed like a great thing - especially considering she was going to be a support character.... I was picturing things like... "Zam makes a cave in separate the party" Maple can use this to communicate through barriers that otherwise would be sound proof... or "someone Got captured" -then Maple could let them (and only them) know rescue was on the way... etc etc.

plus- I'm always looking to weave a little irony in to all my character creations... so it felt right that somebody with so many secrets could also be so loud.

Hey, to be good at kayfabe you need to be good at misdirection.

Separately, Chipotle Verde was one of the most fun NPCs to write dialogue for.

This whole location was fun. Quietly sinister, yet outwardly hospitable. Both locations kinda had that going on. It gave this chapter a bit of thematic unity despite the party split.

While things shifted from my original plans, "quietly sinister" worked. Managed to have slowly building tension until it finally exploded. Couldn't have happened without player buy-in, though. Sorta like the encounter with Vince Vinny Vini over Mey Hem (though that didn't have as much build up).

Would your plans have changed if Night Cap hadn't eagerly thrown himself at the Louisianeigh assignment? As fun as Fiesta Caldera looked, it unfolded so nicely that I can't think of anything valuable Night Cap could have added to it, while Louisianeigh seemed absolutely made for him once we got there.

From a player standpoint, the mission selection seemed like a multiple choice question with no wrong answer but I still managed to pick the right answer.

"Yeah, what he said. Also...what types of flareups? Is...is there something we should be on the lookout for?"

Statiiic...

"I'd be on the lookout for anything. We were exposed to chaos."
I remember in OOC saying something along the lines of "Yes, quite often. But Maple's on the other team."

Actually, it was mainly the fact that neither Static nor Rhapsody were going to be at Fiesta Caldera that changed how I planned things. They put in the initial investigation for what was going on but I had to build the location based on both the fact that neither of them was there and that it was only half the party. I forget a lot of the shelved plans but I believe there was discussion about them in OOC when the arc ended.

But with it being pointed out, the similarities and differences between the two teams is interesting. Louisianeigh got eldritch horror, with museums and libraries ending in a shocking revelation about a foe. Fiesta Caldera got espionage, with sports arenas and casinos ending with a massive fight.

I think I enjoyed playing maple both ways interchangeably ... sometimes she didn't know she was a chaos gremlin, other times she was well aware and that was the plan from the outset.

As Night Cap and Static Signal enter the Documents Department to receive the day's assignment, they found Ready Quill...hiding under a table.

"Mr. Quill? Something wrong?"

Ready Quill's eyes darted around nervously, "They're-starting-up-an-inter-office-bowling-league. It-seemed-like-a-good-idea-but-then-the-Accounting-Department-joined. Who-knows-what-might-happen-if-they-enter-and-lose-and-everypony-will-wonder-what's-up-if-you-turn-down-entering-your-department-so-I'm-hiding."

Wanderlust - Maple

"I'm over here.

Under the table...

...hiding."

It's like poetry. It rhymes.

I loved these latest posts. both then and now. It was fun trying to get maple more into the action with her "new powers" or rather her "always had them powers" that she is now going to use openly.

like a tackle hug of healing ... my little Vampire Cleric
