Is there actual footage of this rather than static images? I want to see if he actually had to do anything, or if he just stood there for a couple of photo ops while having a "who looks more uncomfortable" competition with everyone around him.

Does he know:
1) He would have to get Congress to declare war on Venezuela
2) The Alien and Sedition Acts are high on the list of why John Adams was a one termer
3) The Alien Enemies Act was the underpinning for Japanese Internment in WW2. You know, those guys that came up just a couple days ago as people that were possibly treated worse than the Jan 6 rioters. Maybe.

It is true that the border was a weak spot for Lincoln. He could not even get everyone to agree where the border was.
