What stupid thing did the GOP say or do this time? Episode 3!

As soon as the Dems back someone, the GOP will unite against that person. Because spiting Dems is more important to them than doing their jobs.

They own all of the major media outlets. The only difference is how conservative, and how willing they are to pander to the other side to fill a niche. Anyone who's not a conservative isn't rich enough to afford to run more than a YouTube channel.

To be fair, I don't think Israel needs any help from us. This isn't like Ukraine where a relatively poor country with an even poorer military is under seize by a superpower, and need us to foot them supplies. Nor would I really trust the US military with direct intervention after how poorly our last couple of attempts at fighting in the middle east went.

You may test that assumption at your convinience.

The united states is an arms dealing nation. Will israel need support from your military, if only for parts and ammo? Yup. Will it be the same volume as ukraine? Absolutely not. But that doesn't change the fact that the US is still a needed support structure for allies. Hell, with a functioning government, just sharing intel is hard and slower than it should be.

First attempt to elect Jim Jordan speaker has failed with 20 Republicans voting for other people. House is in recess while Jordan talks to some people.

I would support either of these rule changes:
1) Majority Party gets to elect the Speaker of the House without the Minority Party voting.
2) Candidate with the most votes wins Speaker of the House.

As interesting as it is to see the GOP stumbling, that means the House of Representatives is stumbling and that means the Federal Government is stumbling.

How about they do the next vote as both written and anonymous? Just to see who will win when there isn't consequences attached to the outcome.

I fully expect that this show will continue until they can get everyone in their party behind one person for speaker. Their inability to do that, or to seek bipartisan help, is a testimony of what they are.

The GOP would never go for it. They're far too paranoid about who might step out of line next. Even leaving aside the ones that just live off of grandstanding anyway.

Making it anonymous would definitely make it worse for the Republicans. There's a non-zero possibility some of them would be so fed up with their party, that they'd vote for the Democrat nominee, and the Republican party would tear itself apart even more with suspicion and accusations.

So we need to make this happen is what you're saying.

Pretty sure letting members of congress vote anonymously would violate transparency laws.
