Autobase Aichi brings our attention to an eBay auction that seems to showcase the upcoming G2-themed redeco of Studio Series 86 Grimlock and Wheelie. The big bozo King of the Dinobots is in his blue G2 variant colors (with the G2 faction sigil/name label), while Wheelie is in his two-tone yellow/orange deco with bluish gray bits from "The Story of Wheelie, the Wild boy of Quintesson"! Other auctions are showing up with the pair in Age of the Primes packaging. Are your shelves ready for more Dinobot goodness? Allspark Forums Discord Server X Facebook Page Bluesky Instagram
2025 is now upon us, but as many gear up for Age of the Primes and new Studio Series offerings, let's take a look at what our Allspark staff got last year. There were plenty of toys from 2024, and we are here to choose our favorites. Let's see who the lucky 'bots are: ALArts - Macho Mexicano: Favorite: I never owned the original Optimus Prime toy. I guess I could have with the multiple reissues of it out there already. We even have a suped-up version of it with the Missing Link toy, which already has 3 decos as I'm posting this. So when Legacy United provided a deluxe offering of Optimus Prime with how his old toy looked, I figured why not own it. Never have I imagined that I just absolutely love messing with this toy. I had my Danny DeVito Always Sunny moment where I said "I finally get it". I now understand why Transformers were so popular from the beginning. This toy, while not how the original was, carries over that spirit (albeit without having to pop his hands off for truck mode). I grew up during the Unicron Era and was there to see when the Michael Bay movie franchise was taking off, and to have this toy, this deluxe, represent the past, present, and then-future of Transformers as a toy, it just feels makes me feel as happy and grateful for how long these converting trinkets have stuck around for so long. It's my favorite of 2024. Here's to the new offerings for last year. Honorable Mention: Gears from this year deserve plenty of cheers. Man, talk about nailing a character to a T (for Transformers). A grumpy bot who hates Earth and will let you know it. That's what this toy represents so effectively. He is just fun to mess with. He would have been no.1 if Deluxe Opti didn't pop out. That's another thing he'll probably complain about, too, lol. GodSentinelOmega: Favorite (Two way tie): Straxus is my pick partly cause of Marvel G1 UK nostalgia and the fact that the pretty extensive retooling/redecoing cements him as his own figure and not just a Galvatron reskin. Even when stood next to Galvy. Plus he nails the comic vibe, looking like he quite literally walked off the page to deliver death (not mercy) to any and all Autobot fools! Plus, they leaned completely into him turning in an unashamedly 80s flying space cannon. With Tigerhawk, he is big, beefy, imposing and comes with cannons, feather blades and his double-barrelled arm blaster. He might not like quite as asymmetrical in design as his og TM2 figure did, but he certainly captures the essence. And they certainly didn’t have to work so hard to make his transformation as far removed from ‘robot crouches down’ as they did. Having him rearrange basically all his limbs when he turns into beast mode. Honorable Mention: Runner up has to be Legacy Animated Prime, who seems to have perfected the ‘Animated but G1ified’ look. Keeping the very superhero-y proportions, dynamic articulation and cartoony altmode all wrapped up in a fun transformation. LBD "Nytetrayn": Favorite: It might just have to be Studio Series Steeljaw. What can I say? I'm a cat lover, and while I love what each Optimus brings to the table, I've also had my fair share of OPs over the years. But Steeljaw was a favorite of mine when I was a kid, but I had no Blaster. Now, all these years later, I have a Blaster, and after a bit more waiting, a Steeljaw as well. (Sadly, I kept missing out on the reissues for one reason or another.) He was also the toughest of the lot for me to get, so the victory there scores him some points, too. And I just love the little guy. Actually, I hope I get a good opportunity at a second one. He'd fit perfectly in that smaller inner pocket on my pants. lastmaximal: Favorite: Legacy United BW Silverbolt. It was tempting to name SS86 Optimus Prime, who in many ways set the bar anew for updates to classic figures. And that wouldn't be a bad pick at all for many reasons. But to see the same degree of care and cleverness poured into a comparatively much less prominent character, and one I've always been personally fond of, was a real treat too. Legacy United Silverbolt succeeds where a few Kingdom-era BW remakes fell short. Now at the Voyager price point, he's able to bring sufficient mass to the party while still having his (slightly pointier now) feather clubs and an excellent robot mode headsculpt. There are things I'd change. The beast mode proportions are a bit odd because of the way the rear half forms and where the forelegs/robot legs sit, and the wings feel like they sit a bit low in robot mode for my tastes (I wouldn't be surprised if that were show-accurate, just feels off). But the flaws are just enough to make him... Interesting. By and large, this is a solid, sizeable update to the Maximal knight. (I just wish some of his hollow vent bits still had the "bone" shape sculpted into them.) MadameVixen: Favorite: I chose Legacy universe g1 prime for mine. Hes a fun desk toy that takes the old 84 toy optimus and updates it to a cheap robust design with a nice fast transformation. Blazezard: Favorite: 86 Optimus eats and slays. What was your favorite Transformer toy from this year? You can discuss on the Allspark Facebook page, on our partnered Discord at discord.gg/allspark, and on the Allspark Forums ! Hope everyone has a great 2025. And be sure to save your pennies for this year's latest releases! -ALArts
Weibo user @NOTRAB offers a look at another upcoming figure in the Studio Series redo of VW Beetle mode Bumblebee from the 2018 Bumblebee solo movie. Studio Series figure 116 features some notable differences, chief among them new ways to arrange the car kibble on the back of the robot mode to more closely approximate the door-wing-less robot mode from the movie. (Just don't turn him around, maybe?) Will you be upgrading from the first Studio Series VW Bumblebee release? Allspark Forums Discord Server X Facebook Page Bluesky Instagram
Blokees is on an absolute roll, having carved out their niche in Transformers in 2024 and having populated it with a wide range of Transformers from G1, the live-action movies, ONE, and more. Weibo user @NOTRAB shares pics of TF One Starscream (which has been listed in at least one outlet as Beyond Version, although the artwork also says Classic class AND "Champion series"). This 4.96"/12.6cm figure is due in early 2025, and appears to include a miniature Megatron in tank mode! How does this fit into your own Blokees lineup? The year won't end without at least one more surprise, as Hasbro has just revealed via the official Transformers Instagram that 2025 will feature an "updated Age of the Primes G1 Trypticon", in the form of an animation-based redeco of the Titans Return Titan class Trypticon! Preorders open in early 2025, and Hasbro promises more updates soon! https://www.instagram.com/p/DEIV2D9J6zs/ Anyone out there looking to replace their Trypticon? And who better to wish you a Happy Boxing Day than a guy who's basically 4/5 box, right? (5/5, if you want to include the cubical nature of his cab's shape.) Anyway, over on Takara Tomy's T-Spark YouTube channel, they've posted a new video featuring a step-by-step process of how to convert this Masterpiece Masterforce Autobot -- er, Cybertron leader from peculiar tractor trailer with arms into robot, super robot, and base modes! And some other neat little tricks you can do to further customize the end results, too! Check it out: Pretty nifty, huh? He even has an extra super robot head with red eyes, just like the American release as Powermaster Optimus Prime! Just a shame they didn't include any all-red hands to complete the look. Also might be worth noting that this is based on the Japanese Masterforce interpretation of the character, which was more faithful to their version of the toy, rather than the Nebulan-powered form he took in the Marvel Comics. So if you want something more faithful to how he looked in the stories of Bob Budiansky and Simon Furman, you'll have to keep looking, and maybe hope that Hasbro has something of their own in store for the future. Fresh in-hand pics of the upcoming Transformers Collaborative "The Mandalorian" er, Mandalorian figure are available courtesy of Weibo user @NOTRAB. The brief gallery highlights the figure, along with its N-1 starfighter mode's clear stand (which ingeniously becomes a cape and shield in robot mode) and blast effects. Here's what they had to say on Weibo about this upcoming figure (translated): Anyone else hoping to get more "The Mandalorian" Collabs? Or something from another corner of the Star Wars universe? Two bits of news come in on the mysterious "Swapticon" gimmick subline first reported some time ago. First, Walmart.com now has listings up for the first wave of toys. No pictures or descriptions as of yet, but we can see that the price will be $7.97 for each two pack. The two packs consist of: Megatron and Shockwave Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus Bumblebee and Hot Rod Grimlock and Snarl Ravage and Shadow Panther In addition to those listes, TFW2005's well known leaker, JTPrime17 has provided the following description of the line: “They’re really tiny.Anyways basically they’re two packs. Each figure has individual bot modes and they combine into 1 alt mode. You can mix and match as you please”. Also from TFW2005, there is the full product description of the Ravage / Shadow Panther set: Transformers Toys Swapticons Ravage and Shadow Panther Action Figures, 5+ INTRODUCING SWAPTICONS: Transformers Swapticons toys are fidgety fun mini action figures that twist to combine together into unique alt modes! TWIST INTO BEAST MODE: Press the figures’ heads together and twist to combine them into panther beast mode! Untwist to separate them COMBINE WITH OTHER SWAPTICONS TOYS: The fidget toy fun doesn’t stop there! Ravage and Shadow Panther action figures can be combined with any Swapticons figure (sold separately, subject to availability) IMAGINATION POSSIBILITIES: With additional Swapticons sets, kids can combine 2 favorite bots and imagine a super-powered alt mode, or create wacky match-ups between Autobots and Decepticons GIFTS FOR KIDS 5 AND UP: Transformers toys like Swapticons figures make a great gift for boys and girls who love fidget toys, robot toys, and toy cars So a return of a gimmick not too dissimilar from the old Micromaster Combiners, but in more of a "fidget toy" form. Thanks to the events of Cybertron Con this past week, we've already seen and heard a lot about what to expect from the forthcoming Transformers: Age of the Primes line. Nevertheless, Mark from the Transformers team is here with Hasbro Pulse to make it official... er. Join him as he takes you on a tour of the 2025-2026 portion of the subline, and if nothing else, enjoy the turnarounds of the figures and their boxes. Now, all this isn't to say that there wasn't any new or interesting info to be had. Far from it! Here are my notes from the presentation, stuff I didn't know or catch or just wasn't sure if it had been made official before going in: Boxes show which Prime each of the non-13 Transformers descend from Fugitive Waspinator is a descendant of Micronus Prime, so apparently you don't have to be a Micromaster/Mini-Con or the like for that. Just small, I guess? Solus Prime's Forge has a grenade on the bottom Her toy combines the appearance she had in Machinima's series with other sources Slingshot descends from Alpha Trion, and they were going for cartoon accuracy Air Raid follows his cartoon appearance as well Says he turns into F16, but the comments section said F15 Slingshot and Air Raid each have Landing gear and two blasters Red Alert has storage for all weaponry Repeatedly refers to Prima Prime's Matrix as the "Creator" Matrix; not sure if that's a new term or just an error (probably the latter, but in this franchise, who knows? Things are always changing...) Prima Prime's paint apps on side/back fenders are incomplete on the sample here Confirms Wheelie's G2 color scheme as coming from "Wild Boy of Quintesson" Grimlock has G2 symbols on the backs of his legs Hopes to do all G2 Dinobots, but doesn't elaborate on whether that includes unreleased Sludge and Swoop from the original line Pantheon image on box top with entire pantheon of 13 Primes around the Well Refers to Star Optimus Prime as "The god Prime of the 13" Star Optimus comes with Zodiac orb, calls it the "miracle artifact that rebirthed Optimus to life in the Japanese continuity," but no mention of how/if there's any English lore for it here For the first time ever, he has a removable Energon bullet in his ion blaster Hot Rod's gun turret in the base mode does swivel Calls the base mode a "battle station for 13 Primes" Tread unit (aka Roller) is removable, snaps together, and rolls, but isn't motorized Comes with "a hilt of a Matrix that is basically extended to create a hilt for the blast effects here that are all on 5mm ports" and shows other blast effects attaching to make different swords "build an Energon saber for battle" Star Optimus Prime measures in at 15 inches tall From there, they move on to the Transformers x Sonic the Hedgehog Collaborative 2-pack: Wingtail and Blue Booster are both Autobots (I guess they could have wound up being Maximals) The icon in the Item Box for Sonic -- er, Blue Booster spins; invincibility is on one side, Autobot symbol on other Blue Booster was, of course, inspired by Speed Star from the various recent Sonic racing games, such as Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing Ring is also an Energon shield The 2-pack is a Target exclusive, except for limited quantities at Hasbro Pulse on Transformer Tuesday... which was yesterday, and went up was shortly after this aired, which means screw you and screw me and probably screw Canada now. Contact your local scalper, I guess Age of Primes: 22 figures in 2025 alone All Aerialbots in one year Everything besides the Target-exclusive Sonic thing will be available everywhere toys are sold Yeah, I was feeling real good about this up until tha Sonic news hit. More images have arrived from Cybertron Con 2024 in China giving us a better look at some of the upcoming Age of the Primes toys. First we start with one of the 13 Primes we caught a glimpse of yesterday in box art, none other than Solas Prime! A bot that we've been seeing prototype images of for several weeks, Prima! The other we've seen a lot of, but never this good... Armada Red Alert! Lastly, we have a couple different shots of Superion. More images to come as they become available. Feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts on these upcoming releases right here or join in the ongoing Age of the Prime discussions here.
The Age of the Primes has begun! With Cybertron Con 2024 going on in China, we have our first look at the box art for the full first wave of the Age of the Primes toyline. Below are Prima, Wasp, Silverbolt, Air Raid, Slingshot, G2 Grimlock, Red Alert, Solus Prime (in both robot and vehicle modes), and Star Convoy! Straight from Cybertron Con 2024 in China, we have our first look at some of the upcoming Transformers: Age of the Prime toys that have been rumored for so long; Star Optimus (Star Convoy) Superion, and Armada Red Alert! Our best image is that of Star Optimus himself. Such great details in the head and chest. Notice the chevrons under the Autobot insignia! What a great detail. Unfortunately, the only images so far of the toys for Superion and Red Alert are fuzzy cellphone grabs. We hope to be updating with better images soon. Red Alert is looking like his old Armada self in this image. Most of us had already seen the leaked headless images, but at least now we can see his head in all its glory. Superion appears to use the same combiner tech as Legacy Menasor. Some fans will love that, others surely will not. What do you think? Feel free to reply with your thoughts, or join in the thread for ongoing Age of the Prime Discussion!
Break out the chili dogs! Via The Mighty Mollusk, it appears that the box art for the HasLab Omega Prime set is upon us. Bask in its glory: For those unaware, the successfully crowdfunded set includes four Transformers figures: new molds of the Robots in Disguise 2001/Car Robots versions of Optimus Prime (nee Fire Convoy), Ultra Magnus (nee God Magnus), and Blue Bolts (nee Bluebolt, Magnus's gun that is now featured as a Weaponizer with a robot mode), and a repaint of Titans Return Emissary as Cerebros. This is all helpfully laid out for you on the back of the box: And for funsies, some stock photos of Alpha Trion's boys: Pics courtesy of Transformers Botposting on Facebook. Weibo user @NOTRAB has shared new in-hand pics of the upcoming Studio Series Hatchet figure. This long-delayed Deluxe class figure is finally seeing the light of day soon, and mercifully not in a box set. It may be safe to say that while the Autobots may be dread-ing this new arrival, Hatchet's previously-released teammates will be thrilled to have the squad complete. Have you been waiting for this one too? How many are you getting? Allspark Forums Discord Server X Facebook Page Bluesky Instagram

Eager to see more Transformers: Age of the Primes Prima? Well, don't lose your head, we've got you covered! Some new shots have emerged of The First Transformer, and they're of his alt-mode, at that, courtesy of PrimalxConvoy over in the Age of the Primes thread. That one might be a little mistransformed, though. Don't worry, we've got fresher ones. Ones with an untwistable energy processor! Now, that's not just Prime, that's Prima! Oh, and if you want a robot mode pic in these colors, but without a head and laying next to Earthrise Optimus Prime... well, that's oddly specific, but you're in luck! Now go on, you lot. Make all your "the first Headmaster as well as the first Transformer" jokes in the comments below. We know you want to. Join the Allspark today.
